If the Wii's attach rate is so low, why can't I buy Guitar Hero?

Every time I read an article about the Wii, and how it's selling so well, either the author or a commentor will say, "oh yeah, the Wii's selling good because it's a fad, and it's low attach rates prove it!" Well, Guitar Hero must be attaching pretty darn good, because I can't find one for sale anywhere.

well Im sure that publishers know that too so they would be less likely to produce as many copies as they would otherwise. There are low game sales compaired to system sales but Wii Play and Guitar hero are both kind of exceptions to that stat.

I wonder if the guitar slows down the amount they can make. I see stacks of PS2 sets everywhere I go, so maybe not.

yes and no... yes it does make it slower then just producing a game by itself but you are right there are versions that are just sitting on the shelf... Like I said before Im almost positive they saw that games werent selling well on the wii and decided to not make as many copies as they would for some of the other systems.

I am simple going to put it like this. The Wii version has probably the least produced copies of Guitar hero. Were the 360-ps2 versions have the most. This is because developers know it will probably sell a lot less on the Wii over the 360 and ps2.

This is also based off Wii game sales which are very low compaired to 360. They also base it off how many hardcore games are being sold on the Wii.

Not being able to find this game is kind of a good thing though... it shows that their assumtion was wrong and that the wii can sell out of other games other than Wii Play and Carnival Games.

Isn't it simply 'cause they're correcting the mono-sound issue?

thats a good point and it can be part of the problem but it took people a good while after it was released to find that out and Im pretty sure it was selling out before that was figured out.

Because Activision was stupid and messed up there game and had to make 120,000 replacement copies with fixed audio tracks.

I thought they were just selling the mono copies and offering a replacement disc later.

yes thats correct but Dirktu has a point... I would assume they are making less copies now then they would if three wasnt a problem because it isnt cost effective to keep producing something to sell when you know you are going to be taking it back soon and exchanging it for something else you have to produce.

Thank you for explaining my point. ;) They're probably in the middle of building up a corrected supply (depending on sales so far), so it's indeed more cost effective to limit the sales of the 'broken' games. (Whether they are/were really pulling games back, or just letting the old suppy sell out is anyone's guess though..)
