What series would it be and how? And by flagship, I mean all the big ones, like Mario, Zelda, Pikmin, Metroid, StarFox, Kid Icarus, Donkey Kong, etc.

For me, I'd design a new 3-D FPA Metroid game, called Metroid: Dead or Alive. No, that is not a reference to the fighting series. See, Samus is a bounty hunter, yes? So why does she never act like one? She's always saving the galaxy instead. In Dead or Alive, it's much like a cross between the Prime games, the Mario series, and Assassin's Creed.

It's non-linear (sort of) and you have to travel to different worlds in order to collect bountys you have been given in a non-linear fashion (meaning you don't just have one bounty to collect at a time). To find the whereabouts of the bounty, you have to use your wits and abilities to explore the many worlds. For example, the scan visor now not only gives context on forgotten alien civilizations, but also scans for DNA readings that the bounty left, like footprints or fingerprints. Getting to the bounty is just like exploring the alien worlds in previous Metroid games, as you have to solve puzzles, use platforming elements, scan the enviornment, and kill any enemies in your path. When you do find the bounty, you activate a sort of boss fight. The name implies Dead or Alive, and this holds true. Sometimes, the bounty may be wanted dead, other times, alive. To capture the bounty alive, you'd use something like a capture beam after stunning the enemy, and killing would involve... well, killing.

Once you beat the boss, you are transported back to the main hub as to save time of backtracking and hand in the bounty, and recieve your money (you get more or less depending on whether the bounty is dead or alive). Your money can be used to customize your weapons and armor. Notice how I say customise, not upgrade. In Dead or Alive, there is no better weapons or armor, they are all equally balanced to suit your tastes. For example, if you choose heavier and more protective armor, you take less damage, but cannot go nearly as fast, as well as unlock other certian abilities. For weapons, you can choose from an assortment of shotgun beams, regularriflebeams (like the standard one in Metroid games), sniper beams, etc. Obviously, what kind of weapon you have affects the range, recoil, all that.

That's my idea, so what are yours? A new StarFox game where you play as different StarFox characters? A new Mario game with guns? Zelda with Wii motion plus? Share your ideas here. :)

Okay, but you're a trained proffessional and have been working with Nintendo for... five years. Then, how would you design it? It by no means has to be perfect or even comparable to the Big N's work, just ideas you may have got over the years. :)

that's the point, knowing the technical stuff or not, i still know they'd do a better job :P

but i'd like to see a steampunk zelda *stares at TP's goron mines*. i think that's the only change i'd do on a nintendo game.

oh, and add difficulties for F-zero's story mode.

the easiest difficulty is "suicide". the hardest causes your wii to melt :P

I would make a zelda where Hyrule is in a civil war and link has to travel to all the other lands/regions/countrys etc. and make peace and you get tons of different outfits and armor and tunics and a crossbow I would definetly another StarFox that's maybe first-person where you can control a ship at some points and others you are on the ground fighting. I think they should pick back the kid icarus project and make some fre-roaming third-person zelda-like game F-Zero I wouldn't mind but I am not much of a fan of F-Zero

It would be a new Zelda game as radical and innovative as Majora's Mask was, not some half-assed OoT rip off. The story would actually be interesting, the world more stylized. There'd be a vibran central town like clock town where many NPC's have deep and intricate subplots and their ownt time schedules. I'd really expand on the whole time travel aspect of MM.

Also, here's what I'd do with Super Mario Galaxy 2:

I'd make a Star Fox Wii and have the options to play as both Team Fox and Team Wolf. They could both have different endings.

not that i'm copying you, but you reminded me of the two things i want to change in zelda since... well since always first, more customization. more weapons/shields/clothes. second, a bigger emphasis in combat (stronger enemies, stronger bosses, more moves for both the player and the enemy, better AI) and more uses for the items, specially in combat. and i actually remembered of another thing: give us something to spend rupees on. and i'm not talking about "go gather rupees to pay tingle for his map translations".

Zelda...

Change the following

1. Great 3d games since OOT but IMO the system could use a boost, I didn't find the 'z targetting/lock on" as accurate as in the N64 games. Epona controlled a bit awkward in tight corners and Wolf Link would often jump to attack, miss, then fall off a cliff.

2. More of those special sword moves so you get some nice sword battles.

3. I wish new zelda's would be less linear. The older Zelda's didn't have an ENFORCED dungeon order and forced you to explore every nook and cranny, where the new ones have exploration has a side quest only. Instead of directing Link to one dungeon after the other, just give hints or let us find the dungeons ourselves like NES Link, when you had to burn down trees, blow whistles, bomb blocks etc. Maybe have it be like Mega Man where you have to use trial and error on what weapons need to be gotten first.
IMO I think this would add more mystique to hyrule, as you'd have a reason and WANT to explore all over hyrule.

4. More outdoor dungeons-blur the lines between the overworld and dungeon like Okami.

5. Some story other than Ganon kidnapping Zelda. TP was close, but still you fought Ganon.

starfox. mix freespace style levels in space with traditional starwing gameplay during planetry strikes. zelda. take the battle system and design philopophy of zelda and apply it to something like morrowind. mario 3d platformer: just a minor change. get rid of the idea of limited lives. its pointless in mario now. other than that....id leave it to ninty. id especially love to have a go at starfox. freespace mixed with starwing would be spectacular.

nah, more than just spirit tracks. i usually use ST as an example of a step forward in hyrule's technology, but i want it to be more than "the same place, but with a train". the development and evolution of the cities (more people, bigger, better structures/buildings, etc.), improved technology (which, IMO, includes better use of gunpowder other than bombs... why not a musket?), etc.

I'd make a StarFox game along the lines of Star Wars Battlefront where you would have different classes of fighters and there would be land and air battles going on at the same time, kind of like a massive battlefield. If anyone has seen the Battlefront 3 trailer along time ago and still happens to remember it, I remember vaguely seeing a character (couldn't make out who it was) battling on foot for a bit, then getting in an X-wing and flying up into space and start doing a space battle. I would make the game have online battles where there would be your bases (maybe 3 land bases and 3 air/space bases) and you would have to destroy the "core" of each base and once you do that you win the match. Thats just a general idea of what I would do maybe to StarFox, don't know if that would suit it or maybe just a new IP all together.

Pokémon RPG, cooperative gameplay local and online. Game compatible with DS's trade and control. Import, export with Pokémon Ranch. The classic story where the trainer build a team of wild Pokémon. Pokémon tournaments spread in-game. And everything you can squeeze in the DVD.

I'd like to see a new hunters game for wii thats all about online play.

But, if I were in control, I'd do a new starfox. I'd focus on reinventing the on-rail shooter with a new starfox. The entire game should use just the wiimote, be it as a flight stick or a gun.

i wouldnt say hunters, but a online multiplayer-only metroid game based on the galactic federation marines (am i the only one who think they're as awesome as samus?) would be awesome. and it woul allow a better weapon/battlefield variation.

i like the TC's idea, but make it online. the hub is full of other players, but you have your own house, for privacy. the hub is where you trade guns or upgrades you found, chat with people, (wii speak) thenleave when you want to tackle a bounty. you can also ally with people to go as 2-4 people, making the bounty easier, but seperating the prize. more bounties you do, the better prizes you get

Also the newer Mario games are more like jungle gyms.

So for Mario

Something like Mario RPG, but in real time, kind of like Zelda, with the Mushroom Kingdom acting as "Hyrule". Then you'd have your castles with a koopa boss, travel w/ Yoshi, visit towns etc.

Id make a new kid icarus, id have vanilla ware do the artwork and and sprite design and then id have Nintendo's R&D1 team program it and develop it. Nuff said
