Pretty good review. Matt compares it to Zelda alot though. Can't wait to pick this one up, since I never had a chance to pick it up on PS2.

I'm buying this game, for sure. Any self respecting Wii owner who thinks he has a right to call himself Hardcore or avid needs to do the same.Duckman5
Yeah, I used to think that before the reviews came out.
The game has a lot of broken spots that shouldn't be broken. Everything from design problems with the filter to the frame rate to the broken Wiimote functions.
It's almost like a repeat of No More Heroes. Great game in theory that someone screwed up on the way to the Wii but IGN's spent so much time hyping it they overlook the problems.

Your exaggerating on these points. They aren't broken at all, frame rate is a problem but isn't a deal breaker. Filter is less pronounced but some could argue it looks crisper and less blurry. As for the Wiimote controls, I've seen many opinions. Some say it works much better, some say it's terrible but I've seen the videos and it appears to be much faster keeps the fluidity of the action better. In the PS2 version it took too long to draw what you needed to, when I see the Videos of the ?Wii version they are drawing things much faster and seem to have little problems. It has 88% on Gamerankings so far Jayson, I don't understand this "Broken" nonsense.

It's still a great game, it's just aggravating that this is has faults that shouldn't be there.
The filter is give or take. Personally I think the game isn't art unless it's got a real filter but as you said other are going to think it looks sharper so that part is moot.
There's no reason that on stronger hardware with more time to plan the game has slowdown.
Lastly, the Wiimote doesn't work well in parts of the game which is downright shocking. It's not like Capcom doesn't have a good handle on the Wiimote. Also it's not like you can't program for the Wiimote just by going through the motions you want the Wiimote to do.
The Wii versions should have been superior to the last gen version in every single way. There's no excuse that the Wii version shares the same glitches and even worse controls in some parts.

IGN didnt overlook all of no more hero's problems, in fact they scored it lower than most sites.

My fault for saying it like that with no separation
I mean Okami is like No More Heroes where there's flaws that just shouldn't be there then a whole new thought is that IGN spent so much time with this game that they weren't as objective as they should have been.

I find what they have achieved with the port not knowing the codes of the game from the start is very impressive and it shows that a lot of effort have got into it. Framerate issues is kinda hard to fix if they didn't make the game, think about it. Nunchuck controls could have been better than they are through.

Yeah, I used to think that before the reviews came out.
GamePro: 4.5 / 5 (90%)
Nintendo Power: 7.5 / 10 (75%)
Electronic Gaming Monthly: 91.7 / 100 (91.7%)
IGN: 9 / 10 (90%)
Play Magazine: 9.5 / 10 (95%)
Besides Nintendo Power, are we reading the same reviews?
Well first you should totally get Nintendo Power, it's awesome lol
Secondly when I bring up the reviews I mean the content of them when they list what's broken/glitched not the numbers at the end.

The problems that IGN talks about in the review are definitely disappointing. But, the game looks beautiful and I never played the original. I'll wait for a good spread of user reviews, but right now I'm planning to get it. I think it's only $40 too.

I have heard really mixed things on the wii version of Okami :? Mainly it appears to be about the controls which I find interesting considering the great job Capcom has done with the wii so far.

maybe these flaws don't hinder it? It's a highly stylised game, like 300 had huge gapping flaws in design, but what it does is far better than the problems so it's overall awesome...

Yeah realy the "broken controls" are on ONE move that is optional to use and optional to purchase. And frame-rate drops are very rare and most of the time the game looks to pretty for you to care.Remember. Ready at Dawn (I think that's the name's company) didn't make the original. Makes me wish that Clover studios wasn't closed. The game could have get a better graphical update other than the brightness and add some new content like an extra temple or something.Well first you should totally get Nintendo Power, it's awesome lol

Jaysonguy
I do get Nintendo Power, actually.
And yes, I know that they list the bad stuff, but evidently they don't seem to particularly care about it very much. They're the ones who actually played the game, and the negatives that they list seem to have barely made any sort of dent in their rating. This makes it seem like it's not at all as big a deal as you're making it out to be. All I'm saying is that unless you're a reviewer, you haven't even played the game yet, and as such, it seems kind of premature to already be talking about how the game sucks because of the negatives that some reviews have listed so far.

I'm not saying the game sucks but they have made Wii owners have to decide what faults they'd rather have between the two versions.
Capcom should have pulled off the same kind of title as Bully on the Wii. At the very worst the Wii version of Bully is equal to the last gen version. That's how Okami should have been, even if it had to be delayed a few months to get a complete hang of the build (because as m_m pointed out it's a new group doing the game)
Yeah, it makes a huge difference when a completely different dev team works on a game that someone else made.
And there are problems, but as you know from past experience (thinking that Excite Truck would be a bad game, for example), a few things wrong with a game does not equal a bad game, or a broken game. As you could see from the review, Matt managed to get through the game with no problems, so the minor issues are just that, minor.
You have to look at a game as a whole rather than the sum of its parts, otherwise little nitpicks like those are going to remain predominant in your mind and turn you away from the experience altogether.
Besides, the game is already shipped and on its way into consumer's hands, so there's nothing more that can be done about it. Just enjoy what appears to be one of the best adventure games for the Wii thus far, and stop complaining about a few small issues. I think in this case, the good vastly outweighs the bad enough to justify a purchase.
