Is Suikoden finally back?!

Here are two quotes from IGN that says it all:

"I'll tell you right now though; if you're a hardcore RPG fan, and you own a DS, drop the pre-order money now. This one is destined for greatness"

"Suikoden: Tierkreis is hands-down one of the most ambitious titles on DS, and as far as RPGs go, it already stands with some of the greats on the platform. I'm talking The World Ends With You, Final Fantasy IV re-make caliber; it's impressive."

Sounds good!

Some new screens. Notice the 3D + 2D battle system gameplay:

Someone define a hardcore RPG fan. I want to know if I can enjoy this because I'm not the biggest JRPG fan but now and then a few grab me.

Also, this game looks very nice.

It's hard to define, really.

Coming from a longtime RPG player like myself, I guess it means finding enjoyment even with the most hardest of hardcore RPGs. For example, Final Fantasy players are sort of considered casual because they're hopping on the RPG bandwagon so-to-speak. The only kind of RPGs they know is Final Fantasy or Kingdom Hearts even though KH really isn't a RPG.

A hardcore RPG player on the other hand loves playing insanely tedious grind-fests like Etrian Odyssey, or the lesser known titles that's NOT popular like Final Fantasy. Games like Suikoden, the Tales series, Breath of Fire, Etrian Odyssey, etc. are very niche in their market. They're even more open to enjoying original RPG titles such as World Destruction and new ideas. These games don't have a mainstream appeal like Final Fantasy does nor do they sell as much. Also, a hardcore RPG gamer will try to pass every RPG game by trying to do everything in the games. Play more than required, try to unlock and find everything, max out stats, etc. They can even endure grind-fests which would be boring to a casual RPG player.

So I guess that's what a hardcore RPG gamer is. They play ALL the RPG titles whether its popular or not and find enjoyment out of them.

I'm sure I'm hardcore enough for this! I played one of 'em on the PSX, and there was a RM2k game series based around a lot of Suikoden ideas (Legion Saga).

This game looks... incredible! I mean, graphically, it looks like it pushes the DS to it's limits, that battle system looks awesome, and the maps are so rich with detail! Good to see the DS is still staying strong in times of economic crisis, and we're still in for some of the greatest releases to come! I can't wait to see this game in action!

but you did it well...

A hardcore RPG fan is someone who loves RPGs that are less well known... Its where people aim to unock everything they possibly can and even if they've done everything except collect one item that doesn't make any difference to the game anymore, they'll get it, no matter what...

But don't worry if you're not a hardcore RPG fan, it doesn't mean these things aren't for you, its just that you won't be interested in every single RPG that comes out...

IGN was saying that they have game footage 20 hours into the game but were not allowed to show any of it by Konami. Well, that's not bad. 20 hours is a good sign.

Since when is Kingdom Hearts not an RPG?

You know it might actually be better if the game is shorter. This is one genre which is constantly furnished with artificial means to lengthen play time. A tight 20-25 hours is a much better deal than 50 hours, almost half of which is backtracking and grinding.
