This is so funny because I posted almost the exact same ideas on the gamespot forums this summer. I said they should make something like a Nintendo x Capcom or Capcom x Nintendo.
This topic is locked from further discussion.

me, the idea just seems kinda wrong in my mind. I can't picture Mario in a violent game like that
So the same website that I've heard bashes almost every Wii game in their Reviews (I heard from others on this site because I couldn't care less for reviews) is stating that they want a Capcom vs Nintendo (Who they seem to not like much anymore)? Interesting... Anywho, I would like to see how they do this because it would sorta work with the SSB engine but Mario on a Street Fighter Engine is kinda hard to see but I guess it can work if done right.nini200
Err, IGN generally rates Wii games higher than GS does :?
I think it would be a fun game, but I don't see it ever happening. Firstly, Nintendo is pretty overprotective of their intellectual property/characters (and rightfully so). Second, I think that Nintendo may feel that having a bunch of Nintendo characters battling it out would take away some of the mystique of Smas Bros.
I'd certainly buy the game, but I think it will come out about as soon as Nebris' Sadness game.

Joke right? The VS series is rated T just like Smash Bros.Yeah, it is a fighting game. :?[QUOTE="lazyathew"]

Leave it to IGN to think that Smash Bros is a fighting game

No it's not, the creator himself says it's not a fighting game at all
This is common knowledge
I nevered heard that. But still, the gameplay revolves around a small group of fighters locked in an arena, with nothing to do but fight each other untill the time runs out, or there is only one left standing. It's definitly a fighting game. It's different then most other fighting games, but it still is.
i hate to say it but for once i agree with jayson its a party brawler more then a fighter like with power stoneLeave it to IGN to think that Smash Bros is a fighting game

That's not what Gamespot thinks apparantly. Look at the review for the game and you'll see that the genre is "3D Fighting".

The whole interview is in Nintendo Power but I've had to use parts of the interview before, let me use search..........
"Nintendo Power: Why do you think Super Smash Bros. continues to be so popular even though interest in traditional fighting games has dwindled?
Sakurai: I think it's because it is, in fact, not a fighting game. The nature of it is similar to a sports game in which the player shoots an opponent as if it were a ball. The results are different [every time you play], which, I think, is also a unique and attractive quality of the game."
Basically, Smash Bros. Vs. Capcom is what you want....:P
I don't think the guys with the sword would fit in well. I'd so main Link/Ike if it happens though. Those two seem more fit for soul caliber than a Nintendo vs. Capcom game...

Lol so .....Iron Man with his planet blasting super cannons are okay, Deadpool with his swords are okay....Dante!.....but Link or Ike are the ones who don't belong? Hmm....2 and 2 are not adding up to 4 here :P

Then what the heck is it? It certainly looks like a Fighting Game to me. :?
Nintendo vs Capcomdoesn't sound like a bad idea, butlike someone said before, seeing characters like Mario in a violent game (outside of smash brothers.. which is mild) just seems weird.
now, Nintendo vs Sega would be completely awesome... lol
I was going to mention this. I want Viewtiful Joe and Ace Attorney characters in the game. Maybe characters from Ghost Trick aswell.I approve if it includes Ace Attorney characters.
ChubbyGuy40
I would rather it be like the vs games. I prefer fighters where people actually have to know how to play, then just simplistic button pushing like up A, down B, and so on. Smash Bros is fun, but I want a veteran fighter.
If It was Capcom's roster added onto Super Smash Bros style game, i would be all for it
WreckEm711
This. I've had a much better experience with SSB style of fighting than the MvC one.

Yeah, when I was thinking more along the lines of street fighters paced game, I just couldn't see the two fighting in it...:PIt is your fault if you can't dodge those attacksI would rather it be like the vs games. It is not about dodging attacks or lack thereof. I would just rather have move where you have to know how to do them instead being able to pull off combos relatively easily. There is a certain gratification in memorizing and excuting moves at the proper time that you can't get with smash bros. True, you do need to use moves wisely is smash bros to a degree, but it's "too pick up and play." I played brawl over a cousins house once and I actually won on my second round of fighting even though I had never played the game previously. A game where a complete novice like is able to win on his or her second fight is unenjoyable.

Yes, and you have Street Fighter, MvC, MK (I think) and others for that kind of thing. I don't want Nintendo to ruin SSB by turning it into a combo-memorizing fighting game: I like having skill in dodging, precise movements and getting back on top of the platform, not pressing the buttons in the correct sequence. Don't get me wrong, I love Street Fighter, but if I want to play SF, I play it, not Super Smash Bros.
And as far as a novice beating me, NO. Back in the late 90's I used to play SSB almost every day, and no one I knew could even get close to beating me (used Link). There's a lot of skill to the game, the difference being that you can still play the game even if you haven't practiced hours upon hours on it (Street Fighter's learning curve is steep: if you don't know the combos, you'll get destroyed).

Yeah, and I bet the winners are a bunch of lucky noobs who only played the game a few times, right? Wrong. Any game can have skilled players.
