lolgn :P zelda and metroid are a given, he brings up mario galaxy because that's a specific type of mario game. and honestly, i wouldn't mind it. i'd like it if we got more sandboxy levels a la 64 and sunshine though. i miss them. only ones we get on galaxy are the penguin ones and the bee ones, and even then... :P muramasa is not a franchise :| vanillaware is working with atlus on a beat'em up for the playstation systems, if i recall.

I agree, would love to see Xenoblade, Last Story return as a series like FF, Metroid (except in 3rd person, after playing Other M) & Disaster: Day of Crisis ...these are the games that I've always thought about & imagine if it was on a more powerful hardware.

You missed the entire point of the article. Like Bruno said, he was being specific about Mario, saying it should not completely abandoning the mechanics of Galaxy. He actually said that they shouldn't do the galaxy thing again. He also made note of how Vanillaware doesn't do sequels, but its just a wishlist. I wouldn't mind seeing Vanillaware take a shot at the Wii U.

Conduit Wii U. If HVS even gets a chance at another sequel (after the dismal sales Conduit 2), I'm sure they would love to use the Wii U to it's max, like they did with the Wii.

I just want the Wii U to come out already!

Can't say i would have any interest in another Galaxy, Muramasa, Wii Sports, or DKCR, I wouldn't be averse to playing them, but I would prefer other games. I'm tired of Galaxy's linearity, Muramasa was too shallow, and Wii Sports was just a tech demo. However, I'd love another Kirby's Epic Yarn, that's the best platformer I've played in years. It would be a shame if another was never released.

Whatever form Mario takes on the Wii U is going to be incredible whether its another Galaxy or not, so I'm not worried. But I would like another Muramasa!

Its a platformer, its suppose to be linear. When they aren't, they generally lose that platforming part and that part is kind of important for platformers :P

The first 3d platformers I spent a lot of time with were the N64 collectathons like SM64, Banjo, and DK64. For me, that'll always be the way platformers are supposed to be made.

I hear ya. While I am not saying the linearity of Galaxy is bad, I do miss the old sandboxy levels that require some exploring and thought of how to reach an area. Of course they could enhance them with some more modern platforming elements and such.

My biggest thing though is that I REALLY don't want it to take place in a Galaxy again. I hate the argument "He has been in space, where else can he go!?" Like space is the end all be all. I guess Zelda just cannot match Mass Effect, cause we all know space is the best :P.

muramasa is not a franchise :| vanillaware is working with atlus on a beat'em up for the playstation systems, if i recall.BrunoBRS
It's a "spiritual successor" to Odin's Sphere, which is basically a sequel.

Anyway, that list is pretty terrible, but when I think about it, aside from the givens like Zelda, Mario, Smash Bros. ect., there really aren't that many other games I'd like to see return. Epic Yarn was ok, I just got bored with it because not being able to die really removed any pressure from the game and I got so bored I didn't even finish it, as good as the platforming and puzzles were. I really would like to see another Mario game with Galaxy-esque areas, but I want DK64 exploration in some areas. That's basically my favorite platformer ever, and for good reason. Obviously I'd like to see games like Xenoblade and Monster Hunter return as well, but Monolith Soft already has a Wii U game planned and Monster Hunter appears to be moving to the 3DS so those may or may not be a possibility.

Tell that to all the people who played Goldeneye 64, but shunned Timesplitters :( lol.

Timesplitters was a bit different than Goldeneye and wasn't really the same quality. Odin's Sphere and Muramasa are virtually the same exact games as far as I know, with the only real differences being setting and level up system.

:|....don't speak to me :P. I have not played TS1, but TS2 (and TS3, but not as much) are amazing games and clear spiritual successors. Maybe a bit more like Perfect Dark, which was a better game than GE overall.

I have not played Odin's sphere or Muramasa though lol. I thought about buying Muramasa, but never did.

Having played TS1 and 2, I can say there really isn't a whole of similarity between them and Goldeneye. :P They just didn't have the same quality and character that Goldeneye did. They're closer to Perfect Dark, and especially compared to PD they just lacked in quality. I honestly didn't even know the same developers were behind Timesplitters until you mentioned it.

You can tell just by looking at screens that Muramasa and Odin's Sphere are spiritual successors. They look like they could be from the same game, and you can tell they're made from the same people.

I respetfully disagree with you on TS2 (cannot comment on 1). I think it is the best one (though Perfect Dark 64 would be the best if it didnt have framerate issues among other archaic problems). I think the GE and PD influenced oozed in TS2. Had so much fun with all those games. I miss the agent sty1e FPS games. Stealth/action like that is just nonexistant now. It is either pure stealth games, or run and gun constantly.

aside from visuals, it plays vastly different, and the visuals are more of a dev thing than a series thing. so i wouldn't call odin's sphere a spiritual successor.

Meh, Platformers are best when they are 2D IMO. The closer to 2D platformers a 3D platformer gets the better. When they opened up the levels in the N64 era, Level design took a heavy hit. The best level designs for this genre are easily all found in the 2d plain.

I rank the 3D marios as follows

Super Mario Galaxy 2>Super Mario 3D Land>Super Mario Galaxy>Super Mario 64>Super Mario Sunshine

3D Marios should be open world like. If Nintendo is going to put out 2D Marios, then 3D Marios should have exploration. This way, there can be two different styles of gameplay.

There is a place for both no doubt. I am not hating on 2D (though I prefer 3D mario) My ranking would PROBABLY be:

Super Mario 64 > Super Mario Galaxy 2 > Super Mario Sunshine > Super Mario Galaxy > Super Mario 3D Land

The level design in 64 is awesome. I love that you can see where you want to be, but you don't know how to get there. So you have to survey the situation and do your best to beat it. The level variety in SM64 is my favorite. Sure Galaxy 2 does a great job no doubt, and obviusly has more variety in the amount, but not many are as memorable as most of SM64's levels. I also REALLY miss the HUB worlds :(. Sunshine is an awesome game, but lacks in evironment variety.

Xenoblade doesn't need a sequel, what are they gonna do? Sail the ocean to kill more "gods"?

Though of course we all need the last story II, I'm just sayin. That and another rune Factory.

My statement was for Pikiminmaniac. If people want tight platforming, then they should play 2D mario. The 3D Mario games should be more about exploration. Why have two games that do the same thing? The Mario games should be different from one another so that there is a reason to play them all.

I definitely agree that we should continue on with the 2D side scroller revival, but seriously can we get some higher quality stuff please? Classic mario 2D platformers took their premises seriously. We don't need ironic, tongue-in-cheek "haha the plot is not important so just have fun" plots like in New Super Mario Bros. Make a proper Mario game. Hell, why not try a 2D Galaxy type-game? Also don't use that god awful, ugly art style that NSMBW used for the map screens. Despite all the crazyiness of the original Mario games they at least painted a world that felt real
