I won a Wii last month and decided to keep it and not sell it. I have a PS2, but no next-gen consoles. I thought the Wii was cool when it first came out, particularly Wii sports, but the majority of the games don't interest me.
The only reason I kept the Wii is because of its popularity, and I figured I would give Nintendo a try. The only good games for the Wii that I can see myself getting into are SSBB (even though I never played a Smash Bros. before) and Mario Kart. The fact that I could play these two titles online is what sold me. I definitely prefer online multiplayer games.
I've been lusting for a PS3 and I strongly considered selling the Wii to purchase one. I'm still going to get the PS3 when FF XIII comes out, but I just don't know if I made a good decision keeping the Wii.
My only game is Resident Evil 4 (I hadn't played this before on any other system). This game has been amazing. I thought about Zelda and Metroid, but decided not to get either of those two. I have never played a game from either of those two series but can't see myself really getting into them.
Super Mario Galaxy is coming out in a couple of weeks and I'm strongly considering buying it. But other than this game, I don't know if I'll get any other Wii game other than SSBB and Mario Kart. I am sort of a graphics whore so MOHH2 would have to get some pretty amazing reviews for me to jump on that.
Should I sell it at this point? Any "hardcore" gamers out there really enjoying their Wii? What games are you playing?
Wow man. You should try Zelda or something. Because those are the Wii's big hitters. I feel the same way though. I haven't gotten a new Wii game in about 10 months (excluding VC). Only Mario Galaxy, Mario Kart, SSBB, and Zach and Wiki interest me at all, but I might look at the ratings for Mario & Sonic @ the Olympics. Really, I like the 360 more.
also medal of honor heros 2 for the wii is looking really good, and thats going to have 32 player online. with deathmatch team death match and capture the flag, and they are saying the controls are better then metriod 3, whish is a big deal. also super mario galaxy is a amazing game.
Just buy a PS3 separately. If you want the PS3's games, then save what you can to get that as well.
And selling a console is never a good idea, unless it's after the last game has come out. You never know where a system's library will go over time, and odds are good that the money you get from selling it won't be enough to justify losing access to those games.
try renting some games, i just finished metroid prime 3 and it was alright.The wii is a family system so theres not a big selection of good mature games compared to the rest of the competition.If your considering buying a ps3 wait a couple months and that thing would be dirt cheap. 360 or wii is the way to go.
you should definitly keep it. from what you said, it sounds as if you were going to get a ps3 anyway, so now you can have 2 next-gen consoles for the price of 1. and if your looking for online games try, Battalion wars 2 when it comes out in a few days, it's gonna rock socks.

Hmm, "hardcore gamer". A term thrown around so much in the gaming world. What does it mean? Well, that depends entirely on who you ask. In other words, there's no official definition. Everyone has their own ideas on what makes a game and a gamer hardcore. Thus, asking if there are hardcore gamers that enjoy the Wii is pointless, since any number of peoples ideas about what makes things Hardcore will certainly fit the Wii and its offerings, while others possibly won't.
You've never played Smash Bros?! It's one of the greatest games ever! Definitely the most played game I have. I didn't buy a Wii when it launched because I saw that all the games are mediocre or just plain crap. I'm hanging for Smash Bros myself. In saying that, you should DEFINITELY check out Super Mario Galaxy and Metroid Prime. Guaranteed to be awesome.
great list everyone. Add mario strikers to that and probably GH3, I also heard that the Godfathers is pretty good. Try Fire Emblem, RE:ubrella chronicles and Puzzle Quest when they come out in november. With these games, you won't need a PS3. If you are not impressed about the wii games librabry, you should be ashamed of the PS3's. Nothing there yet.
I'm a hardcore gamer and i got a wii, i'm trying to be patient and the only thing keeping me from selling it is SMG and SSBB and virtual console, i just hope there's gunna be more great games in the future. Keep it.
You want to keep it for one game and you want to buy a console for one game. I think you should give up on playing games.
Also, it's weird that you didn't play on Zelda. Metroid, I could understand since it's not for everyone. Zelda is a surprise. I don't think you touched on any Nintendo consoles before. I think you're a 14-15 years old who always played on Playstation. Zelda is a must especially Ocarina of Time and A Link to the Past.
