I can't stop playing it. Even though I played the original to death, I'm still having a blast with the remake.

Playing the remake really shows how good FFIV's story and characters really were. I always thought FFIV was overshadowed by FFVI, but playing part IV with the revamped 3D graphics, I'm now seeing myself comparing FFIV to FFVI on par with each other.

I use to always praise FFVI as my favorite story-driven Final Fantasy with memorable characters. But as I play FFIV DS, I think the story and characters are just as good, and in some ways, even better. I'm going to start praising FFIV as one of my favorite Final Fantasies.

At the end, FFVI will edge out FFIV as my favorite, but barely. But FFIV on the DS is awesome. Every Final Fantasy fan must get FFIV DS.

I was going to get this, but just become motivated to spend my money on Electroplankton for some odd reason. I'll buy it eventually. Is it as difficult as I hear? I need a good kick in the teeth. Maybe I'll get Contra 4...

Yes, it is harder then the original. I believe there will be level grinding in this game.

Compared to FF3, is it difficult? That game kicked my ass.

It does kick your butt. But all you have to do, like all other RPGs, is to level up your characters. The game is lenient and forgiving when giving you experience points so you can level up your characters for every boss/dungeon within a hour or two.

It takes patience but the game is rewarding.

I personally think it's easier because FFIV is more forgiving when it comes to leveling your characters.

I'll second that. I've played the original to death and don't remember dying once (even on the remakes for PS and GBA where the "easy mode" was supposedly eliminated). I've already died twice and I'm only at the second of the Four Fiends. I came within an eyelash of dying a third time at the first fiend

I might be picking this up soon, I want to try it out, I just hope it isn't very hard for a first time Final Fantasy player.

I am extremely pleased with Final Fantasy 4 DS.

3 DS was okay in my opinion, but had very weak characters which really ruined the game for me.

I was so happy when I was in bed last night and Tellah called Edward a "spoony bard". I was happy they kept that.

agreed, this game is amazing. They really did a good job with the remake. was happy to realize they left the "smut" in the developers room.

TC: i have to say FF6 is an amazing game. its hard to dislike a game with mog, kefka, and the atma weapon, just plain cool.

I'm already at the Tower of Babil and I've never had to grind yet~

Oh, I'm also at approx. lvl 40 with all of my characters, fighting against the doctor boss. Is that average for where I am at the story?

I think FFIV DS is the greatest gift to Final Fantasy fans so far. Only thing greater would be if Square remade FFVI for the DS or FFVII for the PS3.

I think the challenge lvl is perfect especially when your in the middle of a duengon and they give you a new character that is weaker and it forces you to use them in unique ways.

I dunno, I'd think remaking FFVI would be just pushing it, because they'd be remaking another game that's been remade 2/3 times, and an FFVII would just be fully milking the "series".

Hello people.

I just got a ds, and the final fantasy games are some of the most popular games.

My issue?

There's like ten Final fant games, and I've never played one before. which one (or two) should i start out with??

I would suggest FFIII or IV (I think IV is better), that is where I would start there.

FFIII? I wouldn't start off with that. If you mind starting from a diff console/handheld, I'd start at either 8 or 9, and then continue back or forwards from there. I'd personally play 4, 6, and 5, and then play the PS2 ones, playing 1, 2, and 3 once you get a feel for the games. IMO, 1, 2, and 3 were great for its time, but the weak plotline and grinding hurts'em hard. Hmm... if you only want to play on the DS, play 4 first (DS), then 6 (GBA version). ...notice I skipped 7, you can really play it at any time you want. I think if you start on the PS1's FFs, you'll be more likely to play FF7. I don't think FF7 is all that great of a FF either way, even though it's true lots of people obsess over it. ;)

I never played the original Final Fantasy IV (FFII on SNES) but I think this remake might be way better.

Are you talking about Cagnazzo (he uses Tsunami)? If so use a thunder based magic on him when he has water at his feet and it will cancel out tsunami.

Dont' worry, this one (iv remake) is gonna sell very well. In this case SE will probably remake ff 5, and that would probably sell well, then they will remake vi! I heard this from a lot of people, and on a syt(but i forgot what the actual site was)

Anyway, yep this remake looks awesome! Ill get it when it coms in Uk

Whenever I think 3D FFVI, I think FF6's N64 tech demo. o_o
But I'm sure they will consider remaking it, although FFIV's remake was to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of Square, wasn't it? >_>

I agree. I just got the game today and have already fallen in love with it. The combat is different from FF3 (which is a good thing), but it's taken a while to get used to. Other than that I love all teh characters and the music and... everything!!!

I agree with all of the above

This game is very good, should keep me busy on my flight to Australia tomorrow,

Boss Fights are the best part, I have to retry several dungeons because the bosses are so challenging.

i'm still waiting to play it.. i started FF III today and about 10 minutes into it I died from a normal encounter.. with no save, I don't feel like redoing everything so I think i'll let it go for now.. However, i've played pretty much all of the other FF games, including tactics, and i love them all. Just watching the intro to FFIV got me all excited

Stupidy is defently the leading cause of death in a Final Fantasy game. people just need to learn the basics, make sure you buff your party on monsters that are harder then you, try to debuff monsters too and see what they are not immune to. for example, casting confuse on the Stonex2 Dog Fire Dog group at the elban island saves lives. what people dont relize is that every spell in the game is usefull and every character in the game is good. you have to learn how to use what you have to its greatest potential.

As for the guy looking to get into the final fantasy series, Start with Final Fantasy VII Hands down. the sum of all of its parts puts it ahead of games that came out after its time. what makes FFVII good is its friendly materia system, good graphics, and best play control in the series. FFVII is simply a fun game, this game was designed to be for both the new RPG fan as well as the hardcore gamer.

How long is the game? I'm "RPG-impared," meaning I kinda suck at them. How long will it take me to beat this game?
