Its the first time I really got into it. I had a account for a while now, but I didn't really bother to log into it until the other day. I don't really care for the difference between platinum and gold coins. Seems to me like the only coins that hold any value are the gold ones. Platinum coins get discounts on certain things, but only the gold ones can get you the free games. Unless you count Zelda Picross.

I miss the old Club Nintendo. Along with the Deluxe Digital Program, it was a complicated, but well rounded reward system for digital purchases. The way it worked was you got coins (or stars depending on region) for filling in surveys on games you purchased. After accumulating so many coins, your club ranking would increase, leading up to a maximum of Platinum status. At the end of the year, you had your choice of multiple items to spend your coins or stars on. Plus you got other rewards based on your club status.

Then you tack on the Deluxe Digital Program. How it worked is kinda confusing, but very rewarding. It pretty much was a system that gave you a $5 credit for each $50 you spent on the eshop. You had to go through a different site to get the credits, but when it was done, it was a solid system. Plus the credit you got added to your account could be spent on whatever you wanted.

My Nintendo is.... its alright. I don't care that most of the promotions are for discounts on games. It doesn't feel rewarding. Not to mention that the discount only applies to certain games and not all games. My Nintendo feels like a step back from Club Nintendo. Am I the only one that thinks like this?

I was hopeful at first, I got Warioware Touched without paying a penny, since then I've gotten nothing, just gathering points.

Right? I got this stack of coins, but I had nothing to spend them on. I ended up buying SMB3 because I didn't have it. Otherwise I already have everything. Same thing with their birthday rewards. I looked over the list and I realized I got all those games. Kinda kills the purpose. If it was really 'My Nintendo' They wouldn't be giving me cookie cutter rewards that they know I have.

Coolyfett had the Club Nintendo account and the My Nintendo now. Only got it for anticipation of the NX. It seems like it was going to be some form of achievement trophy system. Coolyfett doesn't have any GOLD Coins at all. Lots of Platinum Coins from Miitomo though. Honestly Miitomo and Miiverse should be merged into one application. The My Nintendo Point system should be tied to gaming accomplishments. Like when you complete levels or beat bosses or use certain features that make game play more difficult. This is the biggest thing keeping Coolyfett from getting an actually Nintendo console.

The old club was quite superior even with the cheap baubles. This effort seems to have been put together with great haste. Nintendo needs to bring back the message board it used to have many years ago wallowing people to communicate.

Seems to me it is in in its early stages, but the infrastructure is in place to make the reward program more comprehensive and better than before.

I very much liked the club nintendo / Digital rewards program.

My Nintendo is like the opposite. I can see where they wouldn't want to give out as much free credit/games... but it's a fairly dramatic shift for the worse. It's hard to complain about something that is free... but to be honest i don't even look at the site anymore. I'm pretty sure the best i can do is 30% off on a game i already own, or one that i don't want. How about 30% a store purchase? ( actually with 2,000 of the platinum coins, best i can do is 15% off 3 different Wii u games, bc i dont own a 3DS. Games Mario 3D World, NEs Remix, and Party U... in which i own all 3 already) Since those silver/platinum coins don't really earn me anything, why collect them?

ON top that that it's confusing as hell with silver, platinum and gold coins. I'd say i follow nintendo stuff pretty close, and if it's confusing for me, i'd imagine it would be very confusing for a casual fan. Clearly the gold coins are the most valuable, but on the same token, why spend money on digital Wii U content with the NX coming out in the next 6 months or so??

I certainly hope it picks up with NX, but the way it looks I'm kinda doubtful. I don't think they will be using NX titles for My Nintendo discounts. Certainly not the new games. I wouldn't be surprised if its only VC kind of stuff for the first couple years.

It would be nice if they allowed you to spend the coins on any game in their catalogue, instead of waiting for certain games to be featured. Most of the games they have for sale are ones I already have.

Ultimately, though, I think the entire program is a joke. I miss physical prizes. You can walk into any store and buy a game, but you can't do that for things like Zelda themed 3DS pouches and game cases.

I like how you can buy the Mario Kart DLC and the Zelda skin. I like you can buy the old games and get Miitomo stuff, but yeah, the discounts should be on like any game or something.

That would be a game changer for My Nintendo. Even if it is only the birthday promotion. The option to get a discount on one game of your choosing would be great.

I think what I miss more than anything is the club status rewards. They didn't have to be anything really fancy, but it felt like you were a part of something when you got your platinum membership. Even though all it was, was a few demos and the like.

The discounts are lame, and I don't like how there are different kinds coins. The Zelda Picross game was pretty good though.

Miiverse is the Wii U community, there are specific forums for virtually all of the Wii U games in Miiverse. You hit the home button during gameplay and can post screen shots of your game in your gameplay journal in your profile and/or in the Miiverse forums for everyone to see your comments and gameplay. Or you can just visit your various favorite forums and view what other gamers are saying or playing. You can post on the forums or send a message to other gamers, like their posts, add friends to your profile, and send messages to your friends. You see hundreds, maybe thousands of Miis on your Wii U home screen in various game communities interacting along with your own Mii. Gamers commonly use the Gamepad to post doodles, sketches, and professionally quality artwork with their posts and in their gameplay journals which is something that makes Miiverse fascinating.

Miitomo is something I can't really speak to because I don't have a smartphone yet. I thought Miitomo was just a phone app for you to share secrets about yourself, but it is a separate application that is not shared with the Wii U at present. I didn't think Miitomo had anything to do with Club Nintendo, but I am sure someone will correct me. There was an old Nintendo rewards program that started with the original Wii that carried over to the Wii U and was phased out in early 2016. The old program was replaced with Club Nintendo in May or June 2016, and I haven't really paid much attention to it yet. My impression is that it was Nintendo's intention to get this new membership (Club Nintendo) in place for the NX more than the Wii U, but they just wanted people (all of their original members) to transfer their profiles and status as seamlessly as possible to the NX. So the Wii U has only had 3-6 months of Club Nintendo (the new system). Sorry I am being imprecise here. I think Club Nintendo will be more important and beneficial when the NX starts up.

My Nintendo is way to gimmicky to be forcing digital purchases. If you are against that but want cool rewards, you better be getting a bigger SD card or hard drive.

Miiverse was on 3DS as well.

I'm not impressed with MyNintendo either.

We'll see how it goes, but I feel it should be better.

It will be used for Super Mario Run, Animal Crossing, Fire Emblem and other Nintendo mobile games in the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.

Nintendo does have the My Nintendo Points code that they could use as achievement system. They could also package games and amiibo figures with a code in the future. You get points for buying digital games, using Miitomo and doing Nintendo account missions. Endgame Nintendo Point Codes would be a great feature.
