Ok so the majority of gamers, I've noticed, are male (myself included). Where are the females? I know they can play just as well - if not better (just admit it and relinquish your pride) - and online is no exception. Does gaming have to be a guy's sport? Nope, but a high margin of gamers are male. And onlineis a chance to be equal, unless you are getting wooped upon then it's time to call it quits. And in relation to Nintendo, I thinkthe consoles give opportunities for everyone to immerse themselves in the world of gaming. So how about we get down off our high horse and applaud all gamers, for being just that - loyal to games, no matter discrimination (which ppl take advantage of), or playing skill. We all are given this chance to lay out our differences and competitive natures out in the game. Just play and be open minded

Hey I didnt get moshed for posting this! Wooooo. And yeah, Nintendo is trying to spread the joy to everyone, not just the junkies or fanboys. Gamers come in every race, color, size, and ethnic diversity. So I feel that Nintendo/Gaming is giving the freedom of entertainment with having reprocussions.

The Wii is the first video game system that I've ever seen girls get excited about. Last semester, quite a few girls wanted to play the Wii every time they came over to our apartment. I think using motions makes more sense than pressing buttons to most people, and the whole atmosphere while playing a Wii game (like Wii Sports or WarioWare) is much more social than most traditional games.

But still, I don't really see any of those girls sitting down to play a game by herself any time soon. They still wouldn't be interested in the Zeldas or the Marios or anything like that. Why? I have my theories, but I don't really want to get into them. It all goes back to some of the basic psychological differences between the sexes, and I almost always get myself into trouble when I start talking about that. :?

If you dont like what's being said, then click the back button and see your way out of this topic. This is to get people involved, and if your going to start a distracting flame war, then you might wanna just leave now. Thank you

That happened to me also, some of my friends came to do homeworks some of them were girls and as soon as we finished they turned my Wii and started playing Wii sports all they could.

Not sure why you specifically chose the Wii forum, but yeah. Any girls interested in gaming already are, the rest find it uncool.

I'd appreciate if the two took this discussion out of this thread, as I dont care to have a flame war take place in the thread. Try a PM please. Thank you.

On Topic: Hmm, I should see if some girls would wanna come play Wii. Lol it seems to intrigue the females, haha. J/K but yeah, Wii is a chance for everyone to come together for sportsmanship and valued entertainment.

I think during the old days of gaming (Atari, NES etc.) playing video games wasnt really a boy or girl thing. But time changed that and now most female gamers are people from the old days of gaming.

A good deal of the Females I know play games, including one who all the other nerds-in-arms seem to lose jaws to.

There are female gamers, to my knowlage they just don't seem to be as into it as we are.

I love how the Wii is catering to a more diverse audience. Its amazing to see my grandmother playing Wii Sports Bowling, even today! But again even the Wii wont have older people and females playing Zelda or Metroid. Why? I think its because those games are single player and take away from the social enviroment.Atleast thats my theory

Actually, didn't Nintendo Power just write an article on this topic? I thought it said that women accounted for something like 38% of gaming, and that their time spent playing per week has been increasing over the years. I know almost as many female gamers as male gamers these days.

That's because it takes time for new people to join this world of gaming. Most of girls think that videogames are too complicated and made for men. Maybe that was what Nintendo thought while making the Wii and they are trying to change this situation. i'm sure that the Wii will suceed with this mentality. Just wait a bit more to see girls playing videogames as we do.
