I got this month's edition of Game Informer the other day and they have this big article on the new Dead Space game for the Wii which is a prequel to the Dead Space on the other systems. When I heard that it would be on-rails it was a big turn-off. I can honestly say that after the preview it doesn't matter to me that it's on-rails. I picked up the original game back in October and i loved it. Extraction is to be released in the Fall and i can't wait.

Well I'm not looking forward to it, but I'm allergic to on-rail shooters. I also own Dead Space for PC...

I wasn't hyped for it at first, mainly for thinking it would be a cruddy port, but I am hyped now.

i can't honestly say that ill be sure to pick it up , i loved DS but turning it to an on-rails shooter is just horrible, they could have made the same game on the Wii , did anyone saw the xbox beta video on youtube? those are the kind of graphic that Wii will handle.

I dont like paying full price for something as broken as a rail shooter but with all this love for it i might pick up the 1st Dead Space though assuming its cheap enough.

Well, at the moment, I'm not excited...but I need more info first.

EA was hinting about maybe redefining the rail shooter genre with this game, making it much more cinematic than usual.

If it's a really original game, and not just 'HotD in space' then I'll get interested.

No I'm notI don't like those type of On-Rail Shooters I just don't like when developers take games from Different genres and try to turn them into On-Rail Shooters.

I love Rail Shooters like Sin & Punishment, Space Harrier, Rez, Panzer Dragoon, and Star Fox. I don't like First Person Rail Shooters because they make them so slow while the Rail Shooters I'm talking about are generallyfaster paced.

No, getting rid of the GOOD over the sholder with the BAD on-rails.

This is why I'm buying a gaming PC, because devs are giving us crap versions of all their big releases.

Something that might be seen in the furture:

EA: "Hey, Left 4 Dead will be coming to Wii."

GAMER: "Yeah!"

EA: "We will turn this 4 player online co-op FPS with almost unlimited replayability into a 5 hour 2 player offline co-op on-rails shooter."

GAMER: "What the ****?"

I personally like Rail-Shooters, I know they aren't the deepest types of games when it comes to gameplay, but HOTD:OK was one of the best games I've ever played. So, I'm looking forward to it.

After reading the Game Informer article I am now excited for this game. We'll have to see how it turns out.

I am looking forward to that game. It looks like a quality production to me. I like on the rails shooters...but i think this will expand that genre a little. Its seems they are trying a couple of new things with this game. I am glad it will be a different game that the one i have already played on my PS3.

on-rails? I didn't read that article yet, but already you assured methat I do not want anything to do with this Wii-destruction-ness of a good game.

I really couldn't care less.Another dumbed-down version of a successful game ported to the wii that will sell on name alone. Even if it is good, I just can't see myself spending 50 or 60 dollars to shoot aliens that pop up from behind boxes. Ugghh...

I like those type of games, but I never played the 3rd person one on Xbox or PS3... So all in all I am not that excited.

I know you're giving a hypothetical example, but you're honestly wrong on two parts. First off Left 4 Dead is from Valve/Turtle Rock, EA simply publishes their games through their partners program, Valve has COMPLETE control over their games and has never put out a bad one. To put it lightly, the L4D license wouldn't get warped that far without Valve doing it themselves and making it completely awesome. Second, EA has pulled a complete turn around in the past year or so, they've released a ton of original and quality games, with the exception of their yearly sports cows (which I doubt will ever change) they've become a new beast. I've personally gone from owning 0 EA games, to 5 that I' m incredibly happy with. I severely doubt that Redwood Shores is making it an onrails game JUST to irritate gamers. Glen Schofield actually sounded pretty excited about the project and what it can do for the genre. The graphics do look quite impressive, so it shows that they're putting in serious work. On a personal note, I'm glad its not the same game I already played on my PS3, a 3rd person game with a new story would have been nice as well, but I've got nothing against Rail Shooters, its one of my favorite genres, and I'll probably pick it up because the only other one I have is UC.

I agree, although house of the dead overkill looks fun, but that's cause there are zombies. I can't imagine it would be exciting to shoot aliens without being able to move. Zombies are scary and it would be a more intense experience, but aliens don't really scare me.

Glad to see some people are looking forward to it, who knows, maybe this whole on-rails thing is a sham :)
