i might not. i havent played the top down old school ones but i played wind waker and thought it was "okay". As a newcomer to zelda i couldnt figure out where the hell i was supposed to go and i spent what seems like forever looking for the next story quest. but maybe ill give it a second shot.
Weird how many people are saying they wont get it. Some people say that they are focusing on the multiplayer aspect of this game too much when that's the only information thats been released. The single player story will be amazing. It's a Zelda game, it will be awesome!
I'm not planning to get it unless the gameplay has some real depth. I saw the E3 footage and some parts I like such as the boat stuff. However, my big problem is I have never played any Zelda games at all so I sort of feel like if I am going to enter a game world with all that history I might not be able to catch up. It's like if I now started to play Final Fantasy. I don't know any of the characters or lands and so many people do that I'm sure the games are addressing places and events that the fans would know. I won't. As a result I am a bit leery of entering Zelda unless the Phantom Hourglass is a truly stellar stand-alone portable game.

Anyone in their right mind would get Zelda. Especially because it's not a side scrolling platformer (not that there is anything wrong with that genre, I just think there's too many of them on the DS).
I might . But probally not. I haven't played much of zelda. I played minish cap to hyrule castle, wind wajer to teh forest dugeon, lttp till 3rd dungeon and tp to the escort part.

100% agreed, this looks like a no-brainer for me, it takes on an interesting concept, and with those touch screen mechanics looking like a strong positive and a fresh new way to play the game (rather than something put in for the sake of it and being annoying as hell), I can't see why I wouldn't get it.
I loved Wind Waker. Didn't even mind the sailing. The main thing I did hate was changing the wind's direction. Having to play through that stupid tune everytime you changed direction got old quick.
