is asphalt 2 a good purchase for 19.99?

at my local frys they have asphalt 2 for only $20. but i hardly see anyone reviewing this game so i want people who have played the game to share their experience. is it worth the price, or should i save the money on better ds games, and a rating would be nice. thanks in advance.

ya it sucks I bought it thinking it would be like the first the first one was ok 4 its time but this one is the ultimate wannabe need for speed.  And the graphics r fuzzy.

This is a good game, not great, but definately worth checking out. I'd probably only pay 10$ for it though.

No. Unfortunatly, aside from the kiddiekart racers, DS is not a good home for racers in my opinion. They always come out so glitchy looking.

Yeah I know. The DS isn't powerful enough for a complete racing game. (even Mario Kart DS imo)

imho i think the ds is pretty decent for realistic driving games but thats probably because ive never played a console racing game :D

I play both GT1 and GT2, and yeah first one sucks....but GT2 is realy realy good....beats NFSC in all ways !

Both had their ups and downs...
Asphalt1 PROS: had better music, higher difficulty, a little easier control, and a Corvette C6 :D
CONS: bad collision model, tracks aren't very detailed, aren't enough muscle cars

Asphalt2: PROS: more cars, better collision model, better graphics, more tracks, more replay value, has a 67' Vette :D
CONS: control is too drift-happy, just too damn easy, music sucks, two words: Pussycat Dolls

If you want a good nfs/burnout type game for on the go, get Asphalt 2. Though, if you want higher difficulty and don't feel bad about sacrificing graphics and having a crappy collision model, get the first one, but I would recomend both anyway.

Good overview by Meca Shadow but don't get the idea that the pussycat Dolls contribute any of the music.. as far as I know they don't, they just show up at the end of cups to sort of be part of giving you your trophy. I thought the background tracks, all instrumental, are not bad. I guess my one gripe is that you can get away with too much sloppy driving and not have anything happen except eventually the cops will come after you. Then all you have to do is hit the R button for turbo and blast away from them. Again though, it doesn't really matter what you bash into...except for head-ons and some bridge and overpass columns nothing will matter. Would i recommend it? Yes. In spite of it's flaws it's alot of fun.
