Just get a DS. And yes, if you have a wireless router in your house, it should be free. Also the games are pretty fun.

Okay not a lot of them are 39.99, but some are in their 30s, and even 29.99. http://www.ebgames.com/default.asp?sect=1281

u can find alot of games for less than they really are. i got my games on ebay. used games r cheaper, it doesnt make a difrence tho. its not like it is guna be damaged or anything. but for the wifi, if u wanna play it at home, u need bordband. u can either buy the wireless router or the adapter to connect it to the computer. or u can just go to a coffe shop and play. u can play anyone at anytime. also evryone gets a friends code. which is kinda like a phone number. and u can play with specific ppl u want. the best games would be mario kart DS. Metroid, Pokemon, and the best of all...Animal Crossing :)

New releases are almost always $29.99 or $34.99, with the occasional game going for $20 or $40. The lower price point is actually one of the things I love about the DS, it sure beats paying $50-60 for a console game and PSP games are also more expensive. The lack of a budget line hurts, but you can always turn to Ebay for older games or look for sales. Toys R Us has had Trauma Center and Phoenix Wright for $20, Bestbuy has a re-release of Castlevania for $10, Target has a bunch of games on sale for $24 this week, etc.

Wi-fi is free and there's not really any chat features to speak of, you just go online and the service matches you up with people to play against. Some good online games are Mario Kart, Clubhouse Games, Starfox, Metroid Prime Hunters, and Bleach and Jump Ultimate Stars if you feel like importing.

Not all games are $39.99, I think only FF3 is at the moment. And it still beats paying $50-60 for another console. If you see many games you like for the DS, then it's worth it. If not then just don't buy it.

I think there is at least one wi-fi game with chat support on the way, but as far as I know none have come out yet. Clubhouse games has some short phrases and emoticons you can use, and Animal Crossing lets you use an in-game keyboard to talk to people, but as of right now DS wi-fi is pretty much just gameplay only.

I know that there is voice chat on Metroid and Pokemon. I'm pretty sure a few other games have it too.

39.99 isnt that bad considering gba games where around 50 to 60 dollars for a good game.

A DS is well worth it's money. Many good hours of playing.

You may think this is expensive. If I could get games in Norway at these prices, I would almost be in heaven. A DS game in Norway retail for around 400 NOK (Norwegian Krones), that's equal to around US$65.

Uh... What the hell kind of games were u buying? Gold-plated platinum games? GBA games were the same price as DS games (well, GBA is cheaper now that they're all old) I turn to ebay for all my new-gaming needs because I can get games if not a whole lot cheaper, at least $5 or more off, and that's very nice.

WI FI IS FREE?! I got it for x-mas, dammit...r u saying i don't need that stuff to go online?

Oh, and DS= awesome. don't get a PSP. sure it looks all cool and stuff with its better graphics and extra features, but PSP has no games it's not as fun to play (touch screen, mic) and it's made by sony. Sony is awesome, cause I hav a ps2, but they don't focus as much on the gameplay as much as they do on graphics. I don't really care how gud a handheld's graphics are, and the DS's are really gud, though the PSP's r better.

If you are into handheld gaming than you should definitely buy yourself one. They games usually aren't expensive...especially if you compare them to PSP games. The choice is yours....but there are just way too many great games for the DS to be passed up

You do know that in the UK games cost the equivalent of $60 (£30) I wouldn't complain if I were you.
