Just finished the game...
While some of the boss fights can be difficult, they all still can be cleared without taking a single hit, which really helps keep it from feeling like a cheap difficulty. I also really enjoyed how some of the boss fights were less conventional, like Brachyura (giant crab) or Gravedorcus...
I haven't played Ecclesia yet. But when I played Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow, it's pretty easy to me.
I believe the same concept can be applied to this series too.
What you need to do to deal with boss fight is:
1) For the first time of encounter, try to familarize yourself with its attack patterns
2) Once you know its attack patterns, find out how you can dodge its attacks
3) Then find gaps/breaks in between the attacks to launch your own attack
Most people just keep fighting the boss in their own way without learning and adjustment. That's why they keep losing to the same boss over and over again.
Castlevania doesn't require you to have excellent reflex. The boss becomes a piece of cake once you know what to do.
I'm able to finish off the bosses with my own fists only (that is without using any souls) AND without losing an single HP.

This post explains it pretty well. They aren't nearly as hard as I've heard critics claim they are; sure, you'll die because you need to learn the boss' pattern, but really one or two deaths on a boss is nothing especially challenging.
...the game just makes you actually try. On the previous games you were pretty much guaranteed to make it to the end if you put in the time....visceron
Well put. That's pretty much my take on it. Various, little tweaks make the game more difficult, but it's subtle, in my opinion. This ain't no Commando or Contra 4, though.
It's tough... no doubt about that. I'm only at 25% of the game and I died many times especially at boss battles until I figured out how to do it or got a more appropriate glyph. Some ennemies are really annoying too and are difficult to dodge.I really hate spiders... anyone can tell me what glyph to use against them (lightning spell is great but costs too much when there are a lot of ennemies)...

The floating orange squids can be harsh as well.

The little poisonous ones? I used Vol Macir and Luminatio, I think...
I hate it when GS lowers the score for a game because it's "omg it's too hard for me, so it must be too hard for everyone else" or "uses recycled backgrounds/sprites/characters, so this game must suck a little bit because it's somewhat similar to the last game"
Ive been told that I should start with DoS, then play OoE. Does anyone agree?korino55
Well I don't think it's necessary.
If you follow what I say when you fight a boss, then it's pretty easy once you know the right way to do.
Or you can always level up to help yourself a bit.

They game really give you no direction where to go and you will probably end up getting stuck. PoR and OoE are alot simplier on what you are supposed to be doing, especially OoE. Granted OoE is a little more difficult than DoS or PoR.
