So, I've been playing through Castelvania: Order of Ecclesia and I'm wondering why the reviewers are saying the boss battles are so hard? I mean seriously, they make it out to be WAY worse than it actually is. Don't get me wrong, the game is very challenging, as is every Castlevania, but the boss battles can be done quite easily as long as you figure out the bosses movements and develop a good strategy. Does anybody else agree with me? Also
I'm up to the fight with Alubus
Well I just beat it on normal difficulty. I can say it was tougher than the previous games post SOTN. Not too difficult though, the game just makes you actually try. On the previous games you were pretty much guaranteed to make it to the end if you put in the time. This game is more rewarding than that, you actually have to try some. I personnally think the Crab in the lighthouse was the toughest boss in the game. The bosses were not a walk in the park like they were in Harmony of Dissonance. I noticed that there are more enemies attacking you at once in alot of the earlier stages and I found that to be more difficult.

At first I thouh OoE was extremely difficult... that was until I got 1 hour in, the difficulty DRASTICLY decreased for me after the second boss.

Just finished the game...

While some of the boss fights can be difficult, they all still can be cleared without taking a single hit, which really helps keep it from feeling like a cheap difficulty. I also really enjoyed how some of the boss fights were less conventional, like Brachyura (giant crab) or Gravedorcus...

Bosses are not difficult once you see through their attack patterns. Plus, using the right Glyphs will eventually make things easier.

I haven't played Ecclesia yet. But when I played Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow, it's pretty easy to me.
I believe the same concept can be applied to this series too.

What you need to do to deal with boss fight is:

1) For the first time of encounter, try to familarize yourself with its attack patterns

2) Once you know its attack patterns, find out how you can dodge its attacks

3) Then find gaps/breaks in between the attacks to launch your own attack

Most people just keep fighting the boss in their own way without learning and adjustment. That's why they keep losing to the same boss over and over again.

Castlevania doesn't require you to have excellent reflex. The boss becomes a piece of cake once you know what to do.

I'm able to finish off the bosses with my own fists only (that is without using any souls) AND without losing an single HP.

This post explains it pretty well. They aren't nearly as hard as I've heard critics claim they are; sure, you'll die because you need to learn the boss' pattern, but really one or two deaths on a boss is nothing especially challenging.

Well put. That's pretty much my take on it. Various, little tweaks make the game more difficult, but it's subtle, in my opinion. This ain't no Commando or Contra 4, though.

I have yet to get this game, but every other Castlevania game I've played on the GBA and DS have been very easy. If you're having problems, you could just level up your character until they become an unstopable tank.

It's tough... no doubt about that. I'm only at 25% of the game and I died many times especially at boss battles until I figured out how to do it or got a more appropriate glyph. Some ennemies are really annoying too and are difficult to dodge.I really hate spiders... anyone can tell me what glyph to use against them (lightning spell is great but costs too much when there are a lot of ennemies)...

I had a hard time with this one too. I died maybe ten times until I figured the whole pattern and glyphs to use... then I barely got hit.

When you killa specific monster, just press the SELECT BUTTON to see its weakness, there're few elements that can cost massive damage to each and every monster, not Mimic though.

I hate it when GS lowers the score for a game because it's "omg it's too hard for me, so it must be too hard for everyone else" or "uses recycled backgrounds/sprites/characters, so this game must suck a little bit because it's somewhat similar to the last game"

It is not as hard as the Mega Man or Contra Series, that is for sure. It was about the same difficutly as Mega Man ZX was on easy.

It's like a RPG. You just need to grind a bit and get higher levels than the game isn't too hard.

But yes, if you're at a low level it is hard.

Well I don't think it's necessary.

If you follow what I say when you fight a boss, then it's pretty easy once you know the right way to do.

Or you can always level up to help yourself a bit.

While I think DoS is the best game in the series, I dont know if it is where you want to start. They game really give you no direction where to go and you will probably end up getting stuck. PoR and OoE are alot simplier on what you are supposed to be doing, especially OoE. Granted OoE is a little more difficult than DoS or PoR.
