Does anybody know for sure if Gamespot is still planning on reviewing virtual console games, or have they officially decided to stop doing so? There are several major VC releases like Harvest Moon, Startropics, 1080 with which I would love to read a review on, and I don't see any.

I don't care at GameSpot reviews. I'm making researches on youtube if a game interested me that I didn't play on it. I'm interested on Top Hunter, Landstalker, Blue's Journey, Lords of Thunder. I need Wiipoints.

You can just look for the review of the original game, not the one on the VC. Other than that, watch videos of the game or something.

Or go to IGN, a more reliable source for reviews IMO.

I have never been a big fan of how IGN does their reviews, and I don't like to look at old reviews because sometimes a game can age badly and might not be worth my wii points. Furthermore, for a game such as startropics, there is no old review, and I never got a chance to play the game when I was younger.

I guess I am just wondering if anyone has read that Gamespot has officially decided to stop making VC reviews a priority, and if that is the case, then I think they are making a big mistake.

At the momement they're short on staff since everyone is quiting on them. So I wouldn't expect a review on any VC games for a long time.

Yeah, IGN's reviews are more fair and percise than Gamespot's IMO. ▒ Ω ☺ ☻ ♥ ♦ ♣ ♠ • ◘ ○ Ω

Austin Shau, aka MrCHUP0N, has been doing the vast majority, if not all, of the VC reviews. He probably knows what's up.

I enjoy IGN as a site also, but I find their reviews, especially the VC games to be way to easy. They currently has a bloated count of 64 VC games rated as a 8 or higher, and flame me if you want, but I like to use review scores that I respect to help me make my VC purchases. Obviously games like Super Mario 3 and Ocarina of Time I am familar with, but things like ActRaiser, Gunstar Heroes, and Sin and Punishment were games that I picked up after reading informative Gamespot reviews. It would be a shame for Gamespot to just drop these games from their reviewing editorial.

Is there a way to contact Austin Shau to find out what Gamespot has planned for current and future VC and possibly WiiWare reviews?

its hard for a game to age if you've never played it dude. just check out the old review. if you like it, bam! play it. games only age badly as compared to the last time you played it. if you've never played it then its like a whole new experience (thats how i felt with Sin and Punishment...awesome game)

I don't disagree with that line of thinking, but when I factor in my commitment of time(playing one game, on one system, vs another) and price, I like to have some information rather than "blind buying" or buying based on reputation of a game. Maybe if Gamespot could post review schedules or make notations or games that are currently being reviewed it would help.

His username is MrCHUP0N, so you could send him a PM. He's a freelancer for GS, so there's no absolute guarantee that he knows anything (or can give out the information), but there's no harm in asking.

I think they're done reviewing all games. They sit there for weeks before a review comes out. I think it's because everyone that works for them was either let go or just abandoned them.
