Do you think a DS game could have a good level of immersion that really draws you in? I'm thinking in particular about adventure games and RPGs. Have you played any games on the system with a story or particular presentation style which really captured your imagination similar to the way a console or PC game could?

Warioware.

Just kidding (kinda...) I don't know of any games that really have pulled me into it.

Advance Wars DS, Mario and Luigi Partners in Time, Pokemon D/P, Nintendogs, and maybe Castlevania games.

No one mentioned Phoenix Wright! It is the most immersive game I have ever experienced and the plot keeps you guessing and at times makes it impossible to put down.

Yeah, Phoenix Wright and Hotel Dusk. Oh and Trace Memory. Those all do justice for me. =P

Meh, honestly that's a reaaaaaally hard thing to do. I can think of a very little number of games that really got me completely immersed. In fact, I don't think there is one 'this gen' game that's on that list.

So far, phoenix wright has come closest, but FFIII hasn't done badly either.

Trace memory would have done it if not for that awful music.

But nothing so far is exactly running through Pueblo for the first time, if you know what I mean...

Hotel Dusk and Pokemon Pearl are two DS games that kept me very involved for hours on end, I played Hotel Dusk for 9 hours the first time I played it and I played Pearl for over 12 hours on its realease day.

it wouldn't be a good thing for travelling

lets face it if your really really drawn in and sitting on a train, you could easily miss your stop (which I nearly did with castlevania: POR)

Castlevania seems to be a popular choice, I hate to agree with majoritys but, Castlevania is the onl DS games that does it for me.

MArio kart used to when I first got it though so if you don't own it yet I recommend both castlevania games and Mario Kart.
