Ahhh, the Dsi, the modern day Cold War.... What to do, what to do.

As you all know, late in 2009 the Nintendo DSi is being released into North America. How are we gamers supposed to respond? Should we eat or bite? Nintendo has guided our lives for years, and now it has finally turned to media and music. Are we to accept the camera and MP3 player or boycott the DSi completely?

Stop and think, what if this is a good thing? We could have music, camera, and games in one small beautiful box. What if it's a bad thing? What if we lose Nintendo forever? We gamers pride ourselves in adaptibility, or are we blaspheming? We cant even think on one tiny camera and one tiny MP3, what does that mean? Are we hypocrites? No, but we do need to be adaptable. I'm not telling you to love the DSi and im not telling you to hate it.

Just think about it.....

The DSi isn't just a camera and an mp3 player combined with a DS Lite. It has a completely new setup and the ability to have downloadable apps and such, which it seems most people have forgotten. If I buy it, I'll be buying for the updated setup, not the camera and mp3 player.

It's too much change for just a simple upgrade. If you're going to pile that much **** into revamping the handheld, my as well create a more powerful, next-gen handheld of sorts. I've always bought the systems/handhelds that I want as soon as they come out. The game companies, consistantly pump out slightly better versions and suck in all the cash. I've never jumped on that boat and never will. I could get 3 or even 4 DS games for the price of a DSi or Lite.

Exactly, we have to make choiced based on how it will affect us, if we give in to $$$-sucking, we wont have enough cash to buy that awesome Trauma Center 3 or TWEWY 2 and such (none of the above have been 100% confirmed)

its a whole new console

SDHC card support up to 32GB, internal memory, DLC, new games (DS shop), a faster processor (maybe 266Mhz from what bunniestudios.com says)

more RAM, maybe 16mb RAM more likely 24mb or 32mb (the DS lite has 4mb RAM)

all this stuff, a decent MP3 player, a decent web browser, a decent camera, the same great library with the potential for new more enhanced games, why not upgrade?

i can't wait until the DSi comes out, and i hope they make games that only play on it at retail too. if the DSi can use its better RAM and better processor to make better games, count me in.

It isn't an mp3 player.clicketyclick

might as well call it one because it takes 30 seconds to download a good program to convert your entire MP3 collection in one click to AAC format, have the AAC and MP3 files separate, and then copy it to the SDHC card. you can buy a 16GB sd card for $30, much cheaper way to get more memory in a portable music player than a 8GB $230 Ipod touch, and its conviently placed inside the superior video game handheld

and the reviews of the DSi have said the music sorting by folders and what not is easy to navigate and good

I personally don't know what to think of the DSi. I mean, I have a Zune for all of my on the go multimedia. As well as a blackberry phone for teh internets and camera. The only thing that truly intrigues me is the download content. What will be available to download will be my deciding purchase factor. I still have my GBA Micro, so missing the GBA port wouldn't affect me in the least. So, until it's been out in the NA for awhile, and I've seen the download content available, I will remain content with my DS Lite. Â
