Of course. Why wouldn't it be?klidron02
Wireless signals. Airlines ask you to turn off wireless devices like cell phones and PDAs because the signals could potentially interfere with the airplane's equipment. I'm not sure if this could actually hurt the plane or not, but attendants get pretty angry when you don't turn off your cell phone during takeoff.
Anyway, the DS's wireless is turned off when you're not playing multiplayer games, so even if wireless signals could hurt the plane, you should be fine as long as you're just playing single-player. You'll still probably be asked to turn it off during takeoff and landing, though.

I heard you couldnt, but with a PSP you could (WLAN switch). I was on an airplane with my friend's family and his step-brother and step-sister were playing wireless DS play on the plane, and I got a little paranoid. Nothing bad happened.
Multiplayer or not Wireless signals interfere with communication between airports and planes.
I advise not to.

Have you ever flown in an airplane? The only time you're not allowed to use electronics is during takeoff and landing. Even then the risk for interference is miniscule.
its your choice if you wish to bore yourself to death, then dont play your DS otherwise..........
just listen to what the flight attendant instructs you to do and youll do fine
Have you ever watched Mythbusters? They did a skit on the very topic at the heart of this discussion....and debunked it. They took a completely unshielded cockpit setup and performed cell phone calls at the different band frequencies used by cell phones from their inception to where they are at now (like 900Mhz to 2.4 and 5.6Ghz or somethin like that). The completely unshielded cockpit registered navigational errors with each call in the mid range frequencies if I remember right.
Now, they couldnt actually take their setup and fly somewhere (FAA wouldnt allow it) so what they were able to do is take their setup and put it in a grounded semi-new plane. They performed the exact same series of tests as thier makeshift unshileded cockpit and the instruments registered zero...thats 0, cero, zilch, none, nada...errors.
Hope that was a fun fact to read about. Anyways, getting more on topic, WiFi works at different frequencies than that of cell phones and the DS range is limited to the 802.11b wifi standard...especially in a shielded environment as a plane. Perfectly safe. Oh, and back to the cell phone for a sec...no one is gonna get a signal at 30,000 feet up in the air as they are well out of the range of relay towers.
*edit* For the sake of the airplane industry, please follow the flight attendants instructions and dont play your DS during takoff and landing. Despite the fact those that are heavily into electronics already know that they wont do anything to the navigational systems of a plane...it just makes for a smoother ride if you follow their instructions and not irritate them (them being the flight crew).
Should be perfectly fine, just don't go into multiplayer, which activates the wifi...
But then again, I'm sure alot of people using their laptops on the plane forget to switch off their wifi, and it continuously scans the air for wifi access point..so don't be a paranoid even if you do acdentally turn on wifi:D
I had an eight hour flight from Paris to Minneapolis a short while back. I played my DS the entire time (save takeoff and landing), and to my knowledge, absolutely nothing bad happened; we did not crash and die.
So yes, playing your DS on a plane should not pose any problems.

oohh mythbuster fan.. :)
yeah i agree and i did in fact play DS while on the plane.. nothing really bad happened.. except the stewardess eyeing me badly..
To be kind and courteous, if they ask you to not use any objects that send or receive data, listen. They are doing you a favour by transporting you to your destination; the least you can do is respect them. Playing a DS without the Wifi turned on wouldn't be a problem, although some flight personal may have issues if you are using Wifi. Much like you're supposed to keep your phone off, or turn it on Airplane mode if your phone has that setting.
The flights I was one recently, had the flight attendants walking up and down the aisles as they normally do. If you did have a phone out, or electronic device, they asked you to shut it off if you were connected to some from of Wifi/transmission. This was throughout the whole flight. Just because people have proven it to interfere or not interfere, it all links back to being respectful and courteous.
Well onetime I was playing my DS and it gave a signal to a terrorist group who then tried to hijack the plane because of the signal :D
I played my GBA during flying in the airplane. The flight attendant told me that I must not play it during takeoff and landing.DeafNYCPlayerwhats up with the gba?
