I want to get a Wii, and I plan on just (pretty much) getting these games: Super Mario Galaxy 1 & 2, Twilight Princess, and when the price drops a little, Skyward Sword. I'm also going to get Wind Waker and Metroid Prime for Gamecube (I want Metroid Prime Trilogy, but it's too expensive, and it would just be more cost efficient to get the games separately.) Would it be worth buying a Wii for these games?

It is definately worth it for those games IMO. They are some of the best games this gen and in the case of Metroid Prime and Windwaker, some of the best games ever made

Make sure you don't buy the redesigned Wii, since it can't play GameCube games. You'll be able to tell if it's redesigned if it is shown on its side instead of the stand.

This. Without the backwards compatability the Wii really isn't worth it as I don't find it boasts a big enough library of quality games (3rd party titles in particular). At least the Gamecube library can somewhat compensate for that. Do yourself a favor and try to find the original version that has backwards compatability.

i normally wouldnt recommend it for so few games, but those are really some greats. metroid prime is one of the greatest games ever made, wind waker along with skyward sword and mario galaxy are spectacular, and id highly recommend the gcn version of twilight princess.

however, id also highly recommend metroid prime 2, RE4 (gcn), madworld, fire emblem: path of radiance, super smash bros melee, killer7, prince of persia: the sands of time, no more heroes, baten kaitos: eternal wings and the lost ocean, and okami. then there are tons of great virtual console releases too.

Wow, thanks for letting me know that! I was unaware of this. Is it a bad idea to buy a used Wii from Gamestop? I heard some bad things about buying used systems from there. The other option I can think of is ebay, amazon, or craigslist, and I'm skeptical about buying a console from there.

I think this guy hit it on the head. Especially the latter part - I just started playing both of those about two weeks ago (and bought them with my Wii!), and it is mind blowing how well made they are :)

Yes, in my opinion. Although I would add Mario Kart Wii to that list.

Hmm...I'm going to go along with the crowd for the most part on this one and say yes. I really think you should get Mario Kart as well, but that's just my opinion. I really don't play my Wii very much though, and really can't even justify my purchasing it seeing as I now only own Mario Kart for it seeing as I've traded the rest in. But all the games you listed will supply you with enough time to justify your $100 purchase. I really enjoyed SMG, and I started LoZ:TP but never got very far BUT what I played of it was fun. So I think you should go for it. Plus it has Netflix which is neat :D
