i never played links awakening, so i was wondering if it is worth playing or if its old age will make it hard to enjoy in the year 2011. I already have ocarina 3d, is the link to the past rich enough in length, difficulty, and fun to be worth consideration??

Well A Link To the Past is one of the best games of all time and the game that heavily inspired Ocarina of Time (and every Zelda after it). It's still very playable today and still looks pretty good. However you can't actually download it on the 3DS as no Super Nintendo games are available on it. It is on the Wii at least, but not the 3DS. The closest thing on the 3DS VC is Link's Awakening which is the sequel to A Link To The Past. It's also a really good game and very playable today. Although since it's an 8bit game it might look a little bit ugly to you. For a GBC game though it does look pretty nice.

Although the 3D Zelda games are better, a Link to the Past is still a very fun and deep game. It's lengthy, balanced difficulty and rewards you on exploration. If you've never experienced it yet then I'm jealous. For $8 go play it now...on the Wii virtual console. Not sure why you mentioned it here.

No you didn't. Link's Awakening is the only Virtual Conzole Zelda on the 3DS. It's just people have just started to talk about A Link to the Past for some reason.

Anyway, it all depends on how well you get on with older games in general. Link's Awakening is definitely one of my favourite games in the series. It probably has the heaviest implementation of a story for any Zelda game at the time, although it still takes a back seat throughout the majority of the game. It does have a good 15+ hour campaign though, with some clever dungeon puzzles and a massive area to explore. The graphics have an almost NES charm about them, which I find quite appealing, and the controls are simple and easy to work with.

I would strongly recommend it. If you do enjoy it, it would open the door to other older Zelda games, such as A Link to the Past, The Oracle of Ages and The Oracle of Seasons. Not that you'll find those on the eShop.

It's one of my favorite Gameboy games of all time (and in the Zelda series too). It isn't too expensive either. I find the color/DX version to be uglier than the original non-color version of the game though. And the D-pad is real irritating. Seems too stiff and makes it hard to walk around. Then the circle pad just doesn't feel right with that game. Nintendo will hopefully adjust all of that in the future.

Fun, worth the money to me.

Links Awakening is one of my personal favorites. for Zelda game it has a pretty good story, mind you it's not story heavy but it has a good set up some events here and there and a really memorable ending. it alose gives us the closest thing we ever get to a Link romance^^
