Its an alright game, but IMO, its the same as MP1 and MP2 with Wiimote support. There is nothing all that different or anything that really changes teh formula, makes it that much better. It comes down to, does this experience warrant $50 dollars? I say no, 29.99, yes, totally if they had the price.
I don't know ... I don't feel like 8.5 is too unfair. Some of the Wii games are rated a little lower than I would rate them myself, but 8.5 is a good score. 9 should be for games at are simply amazing, and 10 should be for games that are completely better and different than everything else that is offered. I probably wouldn't go above 8.5 for Metroid Prime Corruption.
On the other hand, it does seem like Gamespot gives out 9's pretty freely to games on other consoles.
Yes its similar to the other games but then it is a prime game after all, the new control and updated graphics make it feel and look better than the other primes for sure and the level design and variety blow away the other primes.
What seems to be the hang up of the review of many Wii games is the inferioir graphical capabilities as compared to the 360 and PS3. While many of the games get the sharp control nod from the reviewers this doesn't seem to offset the fact that the graphics are basically Gamecube graphics, and thus the games don't seem to warrant a higher rating. Metriod Prime 3 is, in my opinion, abouta 9.5. It is far more immerive than the standard FPS, plus it maintins that old school charm that comes with such an established franchise (most of which, if not all, are Nintendo games).
see tha word underneath the '8.5'? It says GREAT! They're saying its a great game. I'm getting really sick of people who seem to think games that score under 9.0 aren't worth their time
To me, personally, MP3 is easily a 9, but the reviewer felt that from his perspective, it came up just short of that. Not really a big deal. Just a difference of opinion.
It's a great game. There are minor issues with it though: the crosshair is somewhat hard to spot, the loading times are annoying mostly because it breaks the pace of the game but you can still move around so it's not really "loading time", Samus' right arm is pretty low res though it gets better with time. I'd give this game a 9 at least. It looks really good for a wii game and the framerate is solid. The soundtrack will blow you away though probably not like SMG. Every wii owner should give this game a try.
Its a good game, but not as good as 1 and 2, im my person opinion. Possibly an 8.5 or 9 one of those 2 scores will do. Gamespot usually is more critical on there scoring which I am fine with that.
A great game definetely, but I haven't touched it since finishing. To me, a 9+ game is something that I'll go back and play soon after finishing, like I did with Metroid Prime. So yes, I'd agree with 8.5. Great game and a great experience, but not RE4 good, where even after playing it a lot on the GC, I still played through it again on the Wii, played Separate Ways, then started a file on Professional.
You should go to gamerankings.com for your reviews. They have almost all of the reviews of every site. I think the game got really high ratings. The game really deserves a 9 though. Well that's just my opinion.

I hear ya man, I hear ya.
This is why fanboys aren't professional critics, and never will be. If they think that every game that they like deserves a 10, or even a 9.5, then their standards are way too low.
