Well, how good a game is more of an opinion based thing. Most big game sites and magazines give Metroid between a high 8 and low 9.
Anyway, killer apps are more defined by sells than actual gameplay. But the killer apps of the DS I would say are Super Mario 64 DS, MArio Kart DS and Pokemon Dimaond/Pearl.
so i shouldnt get Metroid as my first game right??smartjester14get dawn of sorrow or elite beat agents. both quality titles
The game is good, but its only a must have title if you either love Metroid games (which you should >_>) or if you can play it online. The single player isn't that great, but online play is awesome.
The killer app? Mario Kart DS, New Super Mario Brothers, The Phoenix Wright Series, Elite Beat Agents, Hotel Dusk, etc. All great.SpaceMountain86
Phoenix Wright a killer app?? Lol, you're kidding me, right? Games that score low 8's and sell poorly are not killer apps. I liked Hotel Dusk a lot more than Phoenix Wright, so I agree with you there...
I didn't like it. The controls are frustrating and gave me motion sickness, and the single player storyline sucks.SpaceMountain86
Same here, it's way too overrated.Â
NO.Metroid Prime IT IS NOT overrated. It is one of the best games for the DS.....only if you like metroid games.Panosola
I love metroid games and still think this game is a quake game with samus on it.Â
ummm phoinex wright scored an 8.8 how is that low and its alot of peoples favorite game on the DS...killer apps usually arent the best game on the system...so who really cares the dude doesnt care what is selling what he is asking for is "the best game".
O.o To be fair, Metroid hasn't been known for it's complicated storylines.
It may be slightly over-rated, but it has to be one of the nicest looking games on the DS. Playing online is intense as well, but only if you can do so with people that you can trust. In some cases you'll be met with hackers, and it's pretty damn frustrating.
I loved the controls, though. I find it really easy to circle-strafe and aim with the stylus.
Here's the thing, though. The single player is a lot more linear then the other prime games, and a lot shorter. Still, if you like Metroid, I suggest you pick it up in some point of the DS's lifespan.
All the reviews give it good scores, but I hear it's wat to overrated, is it really that good?smartjester14

i mean the controls were kinda werid sometimes so i switch to button controls it worth for me storylline was boring butr wi-fi was the best it was like a halo type game but less wepons.Â
It's highly multiplayer oriented, but I don't think it's overrated. Don't buy it if you don't intend to use it for multiplayer alot, but if you do, it's absolutely fantastic.
Â
Re: control scheme, it's better than using dual analogues, it's very precise. And you only get hand cramps at first, you get used to it soon enough.Â
LOL so I guess I won't be picking this game upsmartjester14
Try forming you own opinion, Everyone was obsessed with the game when it came out, people jsut played it too much and now the cool thing to do is to act like it's crap. It's a good game, and probably has the best multiplayer on the ds.
i think it is a very good game, the story line is extremely short but i think it only has one purpose: unloc oher hunters for multiplayer and make you Hunter card look better (:P)but irecommend it a lot if you have friends with MPH it can b as great as Halo at times but portable.
And for the people that say you can't change weapon, ofcourse you can: normal shot, missile, sniper, electric thing, magmaul, ice one, the electric balls (yellow ones) and the green shots. I hope i don't forget any.
But rent it and give it a try.Â
so i shouldnt get Metroid as my first game right??smartjester14
k this thread is just asking people to bash prime.
"The controls are too difficult" i lol'd,
the game may not be perfect (The single player bosses repeat every other level)
but the visuals are fantastic, the control settings can be tweaked to fit your play style, and the multiplayer, either online, local, or with bots gives the game longevity.
alot of the other games on the DS are far too overrated. Phoenix Wright, EBA, All of the platformers except for Yoshi's Island suck imo. if you're looking for awesome games here's what i reccomend
Trauma Center
Meteos
Lunar Knights
Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow
Advance Wards: Dual Strike
and if you have a single ounce in pokemon fan in you DP are certainly worth a look.
oh and Prime Hunters.
