my biggest pet peave on the nintendo WIFI are Noobs.

like those players that always slow down to 3rd or 4th place (even if they are in 1st) when approaching an Item in MK, that way they are always guaranteed to get the best powerup to use on you...NOOB.  While you crash they pass you and wait to do the same thing again at the next set of powerups....shame.

And MPH has it's fair share of noobing tactics as well

I know it's not officially cheating, but isn't using a bug or loophole in a game just like cheating?

I think it's cheap, which is one small step under cheating.

No its not cheating because everyone else has accese to the same bug or loophole. This counteracts hacks, everyone can get access to them, but they are not part of the game, they not an ad-on.

No it's not "cheating". but how much skill is required, to take advantage of a bug and know 9 times out of 10 it will work. it makes it difficult for the players that actually practice their skill. Don't people want real gaming props anymore?

Dude, this isn't cheating. This isn't even cheap. If they can slow down to last place in a race of 4 and then use one item and gain a larger lead than they had before then they're just good. Unless they get a lightning bolt then they shouldn't be able to get past all three of you again and then get even farther ahead in first place than they were before. And since you won't always get a lightning bolt in last place, it isn't worth falling back for. If it's a close race, like you're all almost right next to each other then it's just common sense. If you're in first, don't you slow down if you see someone else throw a bowser shell? It's the same type of avoidance advantage tactic.

I have never noobed. when I lost I went offline and practiced, isn't that the whole point of the experience. practice offline and own (or get owned) online. It's like being allowed to play offside in soccer, it just lowers (or eliminates) the skill required to play the game. I am always the noobee not the noober.

The term "noobing", when used in this context, is an oxymoron and is inappropriate. A newbie couldn't and wouldn't know how to use such techniques to actually win a race. Actually, it'd take someone who's skilled or who has had lots of practice to use strategies like that effectively.

Anyway, it's not the same as cheating. You're just mad that other people do it and you don't want to or can't do it yourself (which is understandable in either case). You'll have to learn to adapt or deal with it.

and I'm not afraid to loose to a player if he's better. the only way to get better is if you play people better than you. noobing doesn't take much skill, or develop much skill.

i think people using things like this is fine and since you have a problem with it, you have a problem with mario karts gameplay. so what you are saying is that you are mad at the developers of mario kart for making a game with such tactics.

yes if it tarnishes the online gameplay, it should be fixxed. it's not that hard like maybe you have to be in a lower position for a certain amount of seconds b4 you get acces to the better powerups.

i think that you under estimate the developers. They developed the game to work that way. it still seems you have a problem with the game and not the players. its not like the people are using mobs to do this, the game is meant to be played this way and it seems as though you don't care about how a game is meant to be played.

You want it your way!

People still discussing about online MKDS? Just get some trustworthy friend FC and just play with them then anything "unethical" won't happen, or at least nto as often.

i dont think its cheating in the first place, like you said, they were 1ST. means they were already better than you. but then they choose to slow down which pissed you off cos they got the item ? the powerful one ? but if they dont slow down and then you got the item instead. are you telling me you wouldnt have used it ? and if you did and then came from behind and won, are you telling me you wouldnt have laughed at them at your own secret time ?

It sounds like you can't deal with something called "Tactics."  Nintendo WiFi is a competitive entity my virtual obsenity.  Therefore you must embrace, and face, the tactics of the noobish race.  However, I must digress, your lack of skills you must confess, or you'll soon be under stress from the galactic ghosting that has become so fresh.

*Pats back*

Exactly. I love how people use the term newbie or noob and act like they were never a newbie themself.

As for the whole being in first in Mario Kart and slowing down to get the good power-ups... I don't see why you're putting up such a fuss about it. It's not like they are guaranteed a good power-up every time. If they want to take the risk of slowing down and losing first place to try and get a good power-up, let them. That's a pretty ridiculous thing to complain about if you ask me.

Its not a 'strategy' if someone uses a cheat to go into a wall, and get an automatic kill. I dont play on Wifi, I cant most the time. Once Pokemon D/P comes out, Im gonna try to buy the Wifi adapter. But, playing other games online, cheating and glitching is a big problem, which many developers basically go "La la la, I can not hear you, la la la..." to when people complain about it, which is a shame.

listen Mr. "Ice T school of rap" If someone is better than me  I am depending on the nice power ups to get back into the race.  But every time there is an opportunity for a power up (an equalizer) the noob will slow down, get it, use it and go back to first, it's just not the way the game was meant to be played.

for instance has Nintendo programmed those tactics in the normal game?

Do you see those tactics in 150cc Mirror forbidden>

If I am naturally in 3rd or 4th position then, isn't that what the power up is meant for...an equalizer.  so if I "naturally" get under those circustances then I deserve and I will use it.

No one said it wasn't a little cheap, but that's just part of the game, same as snaking. Again, deal with it or don't play, simple as that.
