I've never really been into the Rayman games, but I saw this for $15 the other day at the store.

Is the control touchscreen exclusive? Does it transition well from the original platform it was for w/an analog stick?

I hear there's camera issues, but I heard the same thing with SM64DS, and I didn't have any trouble.

Anyway, just wondered if it was any good. I'm already going with Trauma Center: UtK, and as a second game, its between Wario: MoD, Rayman DS or nothing at all.

I got Rayman DS because I loved it on the Dreamcast.  I was horribly disappointed.  The controls are almost unbearable, and are so bad that I cannot complete the final boss fight.  The graphics are worse than the N64 version, due to lack of anti-aliasing.  Don't get it.  It's much better if you get Rayman: Revolution for the PS2.  It's a far superior version of the same game.

Hmm, okay.. thanks for your opinions, guys.

What about Rayman: Raving Rabbids for the DS?

I know its not out, yet.. but does it have hope of being a better platformer than Rayman DS, maybe?

Rayman is great for about the first 75% of the game, but then once it gets harder and Rayman acquires new abilities like flying it's a pain to control him.

The camera is actually fine in most cases, all you really have to do is adjust it through first person view to get an eye on what you want.

I wasn't happy with no mid-level saving points though. You really have to labor to get through a level with everything, especially if you're short on time.

But seriously, I love 3-D platformers and for $15 bucks it's a steal I think. The graphics look great on a DS Lite, although somewhat blocky in spots, but overall I think it's an enjoyable game...just not as accessible as Mario -- you can't just pick up and play this game.

I say get it. $15 isn't much of an investment at all...
