I think the game is great. You just need to take the time and learn the controls. A lot of people expect it to be a "pick up and play" game but it's not. Once you learn the controls the game is a blast.
It has it's moments, but don't go into it expecting a dynamic sword fighting experience and almost Duck Hunt simple shooting mechanics. The sword fighting is really linear and the cutscenes are really, really dumb. When it comes down to it, however, Red Steel isn't the worst thing on the Wii. Definitely worth a rental.
Personally though, I returned my preorder of Red Steel and got Madden 07 for the Wii. Now THAT'S the surprise game of the launch!
no not at all. there are some rather annoying glitches involving your pointer jumping around on ur screen but other than that this game is pretty good. however, it DOES take some getting used to. it took me a good hour or two to get used to playing fps with the wiimote.
i need another game besides zelda and i was thinking about getting red steel. is it really as bad as the reviews r saying? dcowboys3315
No it's not. It has some glitchs, yes, and sometimes the graphics look bad, but it's a fun game, and by the way, I've had no problems with the controls.
its buggy, the swor play is lousy(still has its moments), the graphics are good and bad at the same time, a very rushed game that some how it manages to be a fun experience...dont know maybe it was because of the wiimote.
The glitches can get very annoying but i still spend a few hours a week playing it. I find it to be fun and entertaining at times. i definately don't thing it's as bad as everyone says. honestly if the glitches were fixed, it's ratings would be 50% higher
If you can tolerate some the minor glitches it is a very enjoying experience. Especially multiplayersmackbang
I never experienced any glitches, and I enjoyed the game. This is the reason that I dont let reviews make choices for me, because I wouldnt have bought the game if I did, and I enjoyed the hell out of it.
It's quite fun at first about the first 2h, then I becomes pretty repeative and boring. It's not at all worth the money right now but if the price gets lower it might be worth picking up. It's full of buggs and the controlls is pretty sucky, but still better than analog stick.
There are many things wrong with the game, there's no doubt about it... but despite the flaws it still manages to be a fun and worthwhile experience which I think in itself is a testament to the wii-mote. I say try the game...

I dont listen to reviews to much. People can hold to much value in reviews and become biased against a game they've never played which could actualy be pretty good despite what the reviews may say about it.
Well I rented this game and I played it the first night for about 1 hour and I thought the game sucked.  Then I let it sit for 3 days and played the night before I was supposed to take it back and I really got into the game. I really love the shotgun.
i played a little bit of single player and 2 player multi player... pretty great if you ask me... but only played those two modes..... dont listen to gs reviews...esp. for the wii mann!!!
