I am completely new to this series.
I do enjoy rpgs such as Kingdom Hearts, FF, Pokemon, and Tales games.
Is this series rly as good as ppl say it is?

As a fan of all the games you mentioned, and with SMT: DS being my first entry in the series, I can say that I absolutely loved the game.
That said, SMT: DSO looks like an extremely lazy port. If you can find the DS version for cheaper I think that's a legitimate option to consider.
^ true for the most part. Overclocked adds a few new features like voice acting, "The 8th Day," some new demons, survivor awards (which is kind of like an achievment system except it grants in-game bonuses), an easy mode, etc.
this game is quite different than FF, kingdom hearts, and the like however. The game is kind of short and is made to be played through multiple times to get different characters and endings. FF and KH tend to be longer with only one main path. Character growth is tied to the demons you control not just your main characters so the game may feel difficult until you get a grasp of what you are doing. SMT is definitely my favorite JRPG series nowadays, but it is a bit "different."
cheaper? not really.. sealed copies usually go for about $50.. and how is it a lazy port? they added full VO...As a fan of all the games you mentioned, and with SMT: DS being my first entry in the series, I can say that I absolutely loved the game.

Look at it. :? Besides, the voice acting sounded pretty below average based on the trailer.
I never said anything about a sealed copy either, but I do remember using the word if. :P

if it was a lazy port they wouldn't have added in 100% voice over, a 8th day that will add at least 4 hours or longer of new story, titles (that are like achievements for people that like that), a demon compendium that after the player gets a demon any time after that for a fee they can summon it just incase they can't find it at the auctions, and remastered visuals[QUOTE="Pixel-Perfect"][QUOTE="PoisoN_Facecam0"] cheaper? not really.. sealed copies usually go for about $50.. and how is it a lazy port? they added full VO...elbert_b_23

Explain to me how the visuals are remastered. They look the exact same to me.
Which is especially bad since it isn't very visually impressive for a DS game. I'm sorry, but the graphics are one of the big selling points of the 3DS, so to me it just seems weird to see this at retail for $40.00. It would be understandable if it was sold at a discounted price, but it's not. I mean, it doesn't even look like it'll be taking advantage of the 3D effect at all. So as far as I'm concerned all this is really adding is some cheap voice acting and the "eighth day".
And you know, all of that's fine if it doesn't bother you. SMT: DS is a great game, I just think it would be better to find the original game for cheap. Just my opinion.
By remastered visuals, it means everything is in a higher resolution.Explain to me how the visuals are remastered. They look the exact same to me.

The movement is grid based like FF Tactics, but the battling itself is more like Dragon Quest. Thanks for the replies, everybody!
But how is the gameplay like? WIll I be able to get into it?
Im not a fan of games that play like FF tactics. I just cant get into those.
