For me it was quite the contrary, the first part of the game was fun but nothing special, the latter levels were the ones that shock me, it is overrated? yes, i think it shouldn't be a 10, IMO it is a 9.5, because some levels were plain frustrating like the ones with the bird.
10's seem so easy to achieve this generation for some reason.

Because having three titles with a 10/10 score is a large number...?
No the game is not overrated. If getting 10 out of 10 on every major reviewing site is overrated then Grand Theft Auto 4 must be overrated as well.

I think that it deserves the reviews it's getting. It's definately the best 3D platformer I have ever played: a spot that was previously owned by Rayman 2 back in 1999
I can't say that it's overrated. In fact, it was quite an improvement from the first one, just what sequels are supposed to do.
I'm also getting annoyed how people claim the game is a "rehash" of the first game, and from what I could see, there are way too many differences between the two games (including level structure) to be considered a "carbon copy". "I know! Let's rehash Sonic the Hedgehog by making Sonic the Hedgehog 2!"
I agree that it is a good game. Is it a 10? By no means. It was sort of rehashed in some areas like identical boss fights, same graphics, same enemies, and like all mario games same storyline.Rickystickyman...Well duh. Have you played a Mario game before? They don't have stories. And the enemies are the same, yes - there are also a ton of them. A Mario game is about its levels, and that's why Galaxy 2 got a 10. The levels were freaking fantastic - just about every level had a new idea, something that no platformer has done before - not even the original Galaxy. For that reason I think the game delivers completely - it's the quintessential Mario game and the quintessential platformer. Also, having the same graphics is okay when those graphics look better than any other game on the system. And there were really very few repeat boss fights - actually, Galaxy 2 had way more boss fights (since it had more levels). No game that gets a 10 will be universally adored by every single person who plays it (except Ocarina of Time, apparently). I think that anyone who plays Galaxy 2 will have fun, but that doesn't mean people will have the same amount of fun. That said, I don't think Nintendo has made a better-made Mario game than Galaxy 2 - and for that reason I say it's not overrated at all.
I disagree. I believe the game is worthy of a 10. Maybe a 9.8, honestly. EVerything was great about the game to the last green star, but i didnt like a few things. Really just the enemy killing minigames and the fact that you have to get 9999 star bits to unlock the final star. But i found the game to be everything mario galaxy was and more, which was the point of the game, to be a sequel. I think alot of people are hating on the hype because some of it was hard, well whats hard to you, is not to some people. Its not hard to me, i completly beat the game without much problems. And the amount of time to spend playing this game could vary but i spent a good while playing. I feel like if i spend money on a game, i play it to the very end. Meaning every star. People say there is hardly any replay value due to lack of real multplayer interface. Wii was never a big gunner for online play to begin with, so thats really not to be expected. And minigames is your second option, which really woudent add much, You buy Mario Party for minigames, not a full mario adventure game. And teo players on the same screen?? could you imagine the serious camera angle problems trying to follow two characters. I think they went above and beyond with this game and it deserves a high rating. People overlook the good too often to stare at the things that are not there they wanted. If they dont have what you want, it dosent diminish the great elements the game already has. With what the game has, not whati want it to have, they did exeptional with creating yet another amazing Mario game.
to each its own i guess [QUOTE="Rickystickyman"]but after a couple of days I just left the game and played BFBC2. The game seems to lack originality in gameplay.JuarN18lol Hey! BFBC2, a scaled down, prettier BF2, released in an ocean of other military FPSs is totally more original than Galaxy 2.
I don't know whats worse, the seven billionth "Which is the worst Zelda" topic of the 700 zillionth {insert game here] overrated? topic. There is NO SUCH THING as overrated and the overrated topics are overdone. SepewrathI agree. Overrated threads are overrated. It's a great game, why make a big deal out of what meaningless number is attached to it on website reviews?
I, for one, though the whole Mario franchise is a slight bit overrated (although fun). If you look at the facts on IGN and even GameSpot, the users gave Galaxy 2 generally lower scores such as 8.4 and 9.1. The truth? Yes, gamers do think Galaxy 2 is overrated.
lol I guess your a bit clueless on the user score thing. Go to any site look at the high profile exclusives, they 95% of the time have a lower user score. That because people who treat consoles like religions rate it like a 1 with the intention of lowering the score. I remember for example last year before ODST came out, the user score was like 5 with hundreds of review scores. The user score doesn't mean anything. especially for highly rated, high profile exclusives.I, for one, though the whole Mario franchise is a slight bit overrated (although fun). That's the sad truth about giving people the ability to vote for a game without giving a review. Console fanboys will abuse the voting system to death and give the games 1 or 2's if they never played it. I wish there was a way we can see how user's without writing a review individually gave the game.
