Yes I have but I dident beat it. But I did beat zero mission probably about 3 or 4 times. 1 time for each difficulty then another time on easy for fun.
Super Metroid is the best 2D Metroid game out there, Zero Mission doesn't even compare to it really. Zero Mission is still a great game though, don't get me wrong there.

Um Yes!! It is the best 2D Metroid game. It is always in the top 10 out of 100 best games of all time in many game magazines and websites. It considered to be the best 2D platform game of all time.
It's suprisingly simple, and yet challenging. Exploration is both amazingly enjoyable and highly rewarding. Especially collecting various items and realising more areas have become accessable as a result. Combined with arguably the best 2D level design ever, it makes backtracking a highly rewarding and enjoyable experience too. Which in itself is an achievement as most games make backtracking a tedious bore. On top of that you have great weapons, and the boss battles are awesome. Oh and the controls are slick and accessible.
