Wondering, because the twist of the elements and there seemed from the videos to be like a regular platformer.

But does it still have the good writing and humor? WOndering if it retained that.

I didnt play any of the previous paper mario games, but i noticed all these recent mario games try way too hard to be funny and have a bunch of immature joking around and try make fun of gamers, nerds, etc. but just fail most of the time imo.

I spent most of the time while reading the text and attempts to being funny wishing it would just go away and let me actually play..  (There is ALOT of reading involved, most of the time jokes that really have nothing to do with the game)

I hope it is. I'm still playing through the one on GS for the first time and I've laughed on many occasions!

I think it's got it's comedic moments, but anyone aside from me find the game just "a bit" darker than all the other Mario games? I don't know why, it just seems like it does.

I don't know that I would call it "immature." I'm 26 and I find the Paper Mario humor to be great, but I'm also an old skool gamer, so a lot of that resinates with me, and perhaps it wouldn't with someone from the newer generation. This isn't directed at you, perse, Roy, because I dont know what camp you fall into, and perhaps the games just not your bag. But I seriously believe that the game industry is reaching the point of having a "generation gap" where as ppl like me who have grown up with nintendo and sega, can appreciate mario games and such, and then you have the next generation of gamers who think everything before thier time is stupid and anything that looks like or has the same characters as something from before thier time is stupid. Damn kids. Don't appreciate anything.

SPM has the same humor, yep. It's very similar to the GC paper mario in that respect. Best Wii game so far, too, IMO.

Well its not that i dont or cant appreciate older games or paper mario, I think paper mario is good for the most part. My biggest complaint is just the huge ammount of character dialog you have to read, which seems to be 60% attempts to be funny or poke fun at an issue. Take the nerdy cameleon level for example, I found that level very annoying (I am currently in world 4.) I guess im just the type of person who likes actualy gameplay and story over mediocre joking around that can be found on the nickeldeon channel for free.

I think it might actually be funnier, believe it or not. I find myself laughing out loud quite a bit at it. This, of course, is assuming that you are old-school enough to catch all the self-referential humor in there... considering that you thought Paper Mario 2 was so funny, I'm guessing you are.

*SPOILERS*

The funniest part for me is when PRincess Peach lands in Flipside and she slowly gets up and I'm like "oh man, how is Mario going to react," and she looks at him and he says in this really high pitched voice: "hi..."

I cracked up.

I didn't think Paper Mario 2 was that funny, but the first Mario and Luigi was funny.

I havn't played SPM.
