I think the game is a masterpeice. Whether you can really enjoy it or not is up to you. The game is probably the best multiplayer game ever created. I don't have many friends over much, and still have lots of fun with the game. This is also the first time I've bought, or really gotten into to a Smash Bros. game. I played melee like twice and didn't have a clue what I was doing, so it didn't interest me much at the time.
If your not really a fan of fighters, it doesn't really matter, as I wasn't. The game requires skill and practicing ,and playing the hell out of the game is how you start develop skills. Theres so much to freakin do in the game. The story mode is cool and can keep you busy for a while. Then they also give you clues on how to unlock everything. Everything totally depends on how you play the game. There are plenty of characters and awesome stages. Try beating classic with everyone on every difficulty and mastering all the characters. Mix up the stages well, play with different amounts of items, different rules ect.
If you begin to get tired of the cpu, get some local friends together and play, or gather up a list of folks from these boards who actively play the game online. You can always play with strangers, which is still pretty fun, but its totally random, and the experience you get may change from game to game as you are in no control over who you are paired up with.

Overall, the game is a great buy. I've had the game since March,and I've honestly put more time into playing online with strangers than anything else. Around 50 + hours. I'm only about 40% done with the Story mode. I have yet to unlock all the characters, complete all the events, build a stage, and beat all the mini games.
