As we know DS is as powerful to N64. So can it really handle a game like Zelda: OoT?

What's your opinion?

I think it's possible to have OoT on the Ds, because Nintendo was able to put Super Mario 64 on the Ds, and also, Ocarina of Time runs on the same engine as Sm64.

I'm sure it's possible, and it would sure be sweet if it were re-released, but with new features (like Super Mario 64 DS).

Im really confused.

Super Mario 64 is not that detailed compared to Zelda OoT, isn't it?

I mean Zelda OoT is too big and too detailed.

The new zelda in DS is just like the style of GBA zeldas. Which is not not 3rd person view.

well if Nintendo could do it I would buy it! Even though I have a thousand copies of the game. It would be amazing to bring the greatest game of all time with you where ever you go!

i think that graphicaly, the ds is capable.

i shouldn't speak of it here. but i'll mention it very briefly. homebrew graphic engines have advanced further than you might think.

I think it all comes down to the screen size. If the world is split between two screens, then it won't work cause you have that gap. I think it is annoying when you have that in the middle of gameplay

Well the DS is a little more powerful than N64 I don't see why not. They put Super Mario 64 on it and made it look better so yeah. Ocarina could easily be done.

I'd say it's a maybe. Although we have seen some gorgeous 3d games on DS you have to keep in mind even M64 lacks the sheer size/scale/draw distance compared to OOT.

The DS cards are significantly larger than N64 game cartridges. The biggest N64 cart if I remember correctly was RE2 which was 64MB, DS cards are 128MB (And I've heard that OTO2 is 256MB, but I'm not sure if that is true).

Nope not split screen. The touchscreen can be used as a map.

Its really great having that game just in your hands.

Yah that's what i mean. Zelda OoT is too broad.

The only part I could see the DS having a problem with would be the main area in the middle of the map. The open field would be the toughest thing for the DS to load in to memory without too muchframerate lossor the need to modify the game. Every other area in the game is no larger than any of the areas in Mario 64.

If ported, it can be easily done, however, if emulated, not a chance.

As the guy above me said, homebrew engines are quite advanced already. I am sure they can easily pull off the graphics in OoT. Also, have you seen the new Legend of Zelda at all? Yes, the graphics are downgraded, but more detailed, but the maps are just as big, if not bigger than the N64 version. Have you guys played Eragon for the DS, very similar engine with the OoT, and very expansive at parts as well, and it runs great.

True, but Wind Waker's 3D engine is much more sophisticated than Ocarina's. They wanted to keep Wind Waker's visual design, so they had to make the dungeon areas 2D. They kept the ocean bits 3D though :)
