I see no reason whatsoever to not retire my DS. I haven't played it in 4-5 months, the best games are just remakes of old games and the only good games that aren't remakes are either puzzle games or games that have no replay value at all. If I'm going to pay 30 bucks for a game, I'll get a console game that'll last me two to three times longer than a DS game and will be more fun. I'm sorry, but the DS has gone the way of the Gamecube...

Can anyone change my opinion before I give up on Nintendo entirely?!?!

:| Did you notice my console remark? Why would I buy GH:OT if I can just play GH3 which is more fun? I guess I should point out that I'm not on the road enough for console to handheld games to be worth my money. I guess I should just wait for E3 though....

Dont give up on it.

Wait for Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood.

It's going to be awesome.

Thats where my hope is going for the DS.

If it isn't good... I'm not sure what Im going to do.

name 5 good remakes on the DS. THere are at least 60+ good games so no it hasn't gone the way of the gamecube. You're just not trying, FFTA2 just came out it has tons playtime. Plus it's Summer summer is always slow. Fall you can expect castlevania, kirby, and more (kingdom hearts is coming too).

Well out right now theres FFTA2, Ninja Gaiden, the World ends with you, Professor Layton, ( newest ones I can think of)

And then up and coming are Disgaea DS, Castlevania Order of Eclessia, FF4, Valkryie Profile: the accursed one, etc...

Have you ever imported anything? Jump Ultimate Stars and Ouendan are 2 great choices.

Oh man, the DS is so far from the Gamecube it's not funny. By the end of it's run the DS will arguably be rememberd as one of the best systems next to the PS2 and SNES.

have you tried:

- Advance Wars: Days of Ruin (immense replay value)

- Ninja Gaiden DS

- Proffessor Layton

There you go three unique games for the DS I happen to be playing right now. Have you really dug into the DS library or are you just looking for a reson to sell it?

There are NOT 60 good DS games. Your standards must be very, very low. Or you're 7.

In the end, it's really only your decision whether or not you keep your DS. If you are bored with the games you have and don't see anything coming that turns your crank, don't feel obliged to keep the thing. I find that when I get bored with my DS, PSP, 360, Wii, or Dreamcast, I just play other stuff for a while until I'm in the mood to pick the offending system up and give it a go again. You have to make the choice though.

Since you're leaning towards retiring your DS, it's easy to just find negative things about the handheld. But you've got to be more impartial about this decision and look harder for good things about the DS. How about the DS's very extensive game library? There's plenty of original games for the DS like TWEWY, Bleach: The Blade of Fate, (which is WAY better than the Wii version of Bleach) and Elite Beat Agents, just to point out a few. So give the DS another try. Of course, it is your decision, so do whatever you want. And you could import a few games, like Jump Superstars. Also, you should wait for E3. Good luck with your decision. Hope it doesn't haunt you for the rest of your life............

You probably don't own both of the Advance Wars games, Elite Beat Agents, professor layton, The World Ends With You, FFTA2, Animal Crossing, and Pokemon. Well, maybe you do but that's just off the top of my head.

When you own every game in the recommendation thread and have beaten them all you can retire your DS

This thread seems like a bunch of whining. I used to play my DS a lot when I rode the bus around. Now that I have a car, I just play it more at home. There are so many games to play, so I don't know what you are whining about. The DS has sold tens of millions of units and will continue to sell. How can you compare this to the Gamecube. The DS Lite is the number one handheld. If you don't like it, then sell it. The truth is that there are plenty of games out there, you just don't know about them or like them.

There are easily over 60 good DS games. If your into all the genres of gaming.

I'm not going to bother making a list or anything, but if you go by GS standards of reviews, 7.0+ is good or better. And there are just over 150 games there. I'm not saying I go just by reviews or anything, but its fairly easy to see there are over 60 good games.

Your concerns are valid amongst all video game systems, but you have to ask yourself this; "Will I potentially want this system to play a game in the future?" I know it sounds ridiculous, but I know a lot of people who traded in a system, only to want it back a few months later. I've seen people waste so much money in "rebuying" a system they once owned. If there's something you need the money for such as paying rent, buying another system, taking your girfriend out for her birthday, or anything more important, then maybe you should sell it. Otherwise, it might be worth your while to hold onto it, just in case a killer game comes out that you simply must play. Peace.

Just because YOU don't like YOUR DS doesn't mean it's dying; sales are as strong as ever, and we all still play ours. Good riddance; go whine somewhere else.

Since others mentioned other good games for the DS, what about the upcoming Dragon Quest IX which will be released in Japan later this year and perhaps next year in North America?

The DS has an enormous established library, you don't have to buy brand new games...

If you think the DS has it bad, look at the PSP's future lineup... it's practically non existant. Which is a great shame, because I think it is hands down the better handheld gaming system.

PS.. if you like SRPG's, get your hands on a PSP... it has a fair sized library of them, and most of them take 30 to 50 hours to beat.

Let's try suggesting games that don't suck.

Check out NSMB, Zelda, TWEWY, FFTA2, Days of Ruin, Phoenix Wright, Mario Kart, Professor Layton, Animal Crossing, Ninja Gaiden, Elite Beat Agents, Pokemon, etc...

If none of those games interest you, take your own advice and retire your DS.

Nah, there are a ton of great DS games out there that have come out this year. Not to mention the DS has a killer line-up for 2008. Way of the Gamecube? Far from it. Replay value? FFTA2, Advance Wars, Nanostray 2 all take a long time to conquer, all 2008 releases. This year has been promising and with the promise of some great hardcore games this summer, I don't see how the DS has at all lost support :?

I disagree, I think there are plenty of good games...

The world ends with you.

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Ring of Fates( NOTE: only if you play multiplayer imo)

Jump ultimate stars (yeah its japanese, but its still great)

Contra (great multiplayer, short, but good replay for me)

Tetris ds....if you like Tetris that is.

The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass (surpisingly good.)

Advance Wars (lots of em)

Yoshi's Island DS (Its better than it sounds, really.)

anywho...I'm going to stop now, however, i'm guessing that the ds is just not your taste.

Also, since I'm able to play hombrew games like colors on my ds, that also makes it a lot better.

Annoyingly honest, maybe.

I never said there weren't good games on the DS. I'm saying that 60 (or more) is a stretch. Maybe that's including the dozens of Pokemon games? I don't know. But I know that I personally own 6 DS games, and there's MAYBE about 3 more that I'd buy. I know to each their own, but I'm just not seeing 60 good games out there.

You not liking your DS doesnt' make it dead. I think you're vastly over-estimating the value of your opinion. In case you were wondering, it's zero. If you don't like handhelds then you don't like handhelds; other people do.

with you console remark, then yes. The DS is dead. You have to accept that handheld games generally are shorter than console games.

If you could accept that simple fact, then there is plenty to play.

3. Big Brain
8. Custom Robo Arena
10. Demintium
11. Metroid Prime Pinball
13. Dragon Quest Monster: Joker
14. Drawn to Life
21. Kirby Squeak Squad
25. Mario hoops
27. Mario vs. DK 2
28. MegaMan ZX
31. Nanostray
32. Nanostray 2
37. Pokemon Ranger
43. Super Princess Peach
46. Viewtiful Joe
48. Yoshi Touch and Go
49. Yoshi's Island
50. Zoo Keeper
54. DK Jungle Climber
56. Final Fantasy Tactics Advance
57. Star Fox Command
58. Resident Evil DS

Some of those games are really iffy and are generally not considered "good." You also listed a few GBA games. Fail.

I didn't list any GBA games, I have no clue what you're talking about. Fail for you my friend, apparently we both failed. But hey I listed all good games so I achieved what I set out to do. I listed more than 60 actually and I could list more.

OK, you can list all the games you want, but there're not good.
