DS games just aren't getting very high ratings.Metroid827
Handheld games naturally have lower scores on average, but that doesn't mean they are inferior* to console games. I think part of your problem is you judge the games by a number, instead of trying them for yourself. One part of enjoying games is to be your own critic.
*Maybe in graphics, but I find 80%+ of the handheld games I play last me much longer than most console games nowadays, have a story on par or better than its console counterparts, and are just as solid overall.
The DS has quite a few games imo. If you're just looking at reviews then you won't find any games. Sure the reviews tend to be worse than console games, but as mentioned earlier they do tend to have long stories, and great gameplay regardless. I've found a handful of games that were rated poorly, but to me looked interesting. One worth mentioning was Gunpey. It's a puzzle game that I guess people didn't like very much, but I found it to be very fun, and extremely difficult actually. Definitely a steal at the $9 I spent on it.
I would say rather than reading reviews find a game genre you're interested in, and then watch gameplay videos of some games, and read customer reviews on it. It's a lot more helpful to read 100 customer reviews than 1 guys's review after he only played for an hour or two. That's what I do, and I haven't found an unsatisfying game yet for my DS :)
I agree with this guy. The DS have good quality games, peharps you're not looking enough? Of course, i feel that the GBA games had kinda more quality for it own system than the actual DS games, but peharps that's just me. The problem is not the lack of quality games, but the excessive number of scrap/"dust-collector" games that are basically around 60-80% of the DS library, but the actual number of quality games are big enough to make anyone happy. (Anyway, that happens with every system). The DS has quite a few games imo. If you're just looking at reviews then you won't find any games. Exactly.
DS is such a great system, I really don't know what to say. It got me back into RPG, maybe because that's what most of the top games on the system are.[QUOTE="Master-Thief-09"]Lol, wut?awssk8er716
Exactly.
same here, it's really obvious that the TS didnt know what he's talking bout
Well, there were a few small little games that made a tiny blip on the game radar you know? like Cadtlevania Order of Ecclesia, The World Ends With You, Chrono Trigger and Mario Kart DS, but I can see why you would think they're no good games out.

You can't look at reviews or scores or trust peoples opinion here because you'll end up severly disapointed with the same 10 or same games everyone recommends. Everyone has different criteria for what they consider a "good" game and ignoring their opinions is your best option, as one persons 1 is another persons 10. I would follow this dude's advice about reading from different sources and watching gameplay vids, so you can see first hand what to expect. The last game I tried after completely ignoring the reviews and based just on gameplay vids, was Operation Vietnam, which turned out pretty fun. Listen to that little voice in your head instead of everyone elses. Good things come to those who don't believe hype :)The DS has quite a few games imo. I guess its just me, then. I've looked pretty hard and all I see are RPGs, RPGs and RPGs, which don't interest me.Metroid827Okay, the DS is the only handheld that could moderatelly compete with a platform system in the game library cryteria. The only reason you wouldn't like it is maybe because its like an RPG God. But not just the RPGs have gotten high ratings for it. Actually GO to the DS section and click the Highest Rated tab. Half of them are RPG's. Only half. I think half the DS's good games is a high enough number. Which means you've got about 70+ games to check out.
I can't remember when the last time was when I saw a DS game I was interested in. It sure wasn't last year. The last time I got one was in the beggining of 07. DS games just aren't getting very high ratings. I hope they fix this problem for the DSi.Metroid827I couldn't disagree more. imo the DS has the best library of any system this generation.
What that guy said^^^
Over the last few months i have been playing my ds more than my 360 and wii combined, even with fallout 3.
Also to the above poster- jin kicks ass.
most quality games that the DS have are RPG'siamthe1neIndeed, that's the only thing that annoys me.

I feel the same way. I've never seen a portable system staying on par with platform system game libraries. And literally, i've owned plenty of DS games. Out of the atleast 40 i've played, Nintendogs and that Magician game were the only ones I didn't feel like holding on for too long. By the way, Samurai Champloo is bomb. Didn't know anyone else read it.

IS CORRECT Dude. You stole my line. =(Well, it needs more than Nintendogs clones and those "Imagine" games.garathe_denYou can't just say the Nintendo DS has JUST Nintendogs clones and Imagine games. Those were designed for more of the female fanbase anyways. And i'm sure that makes up less than 50% of the gamer. And there are over 180 DS games with ratings over 8.0. None of them are Nintendogs or Imagine games. When I say there are 180, I mean on this site alone.
Here are some games I liked or look interesting on the DS that came out rather recently: The world ends with you, Final Fantasy 4, Dragon Quest 5, Trauma Center 2, Apollo Justice, Big Bang Mini, Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia, Air traffic chaos, Professor Layton and the Curious Village, Chrono Trigger, Bleach: Dark Souls, Dragon Quest 4, Bangai-O Spirits, N+, Advance Wars: Days of Ruin, Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings, Bleach: The Blade of Fate, Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass, Pheonix Wright: Trials and Tribulations and Contra 4. These all came out after the middle of 2007, and are all part of different genres. So....
