You should just stick with a PSP then. People who bought the DS thinking it would be some kind of graphical power house, then you're really dense. It's what Nintendo has always been about: gameplay and innovation.earvcunanansay the psp never came out, then DS would have been a graphical power house, when compared to gba

It's what Nintendo has always been about: gameplay and innovation.earvcunanani understand what your saying but it not about being a graphical powerhouse, its about living up to its potential.as of now only a handfull of games look better than the gameboy advance.if nintendo is never going to start showing the ds has some horsepower then we might have a problem
I agree that the machine doesn't seem to be really hitting its stride given that Mario 64 DS was a launch title and kicks butt over other titles for graphics. However, recently other titles have popped up to compete for graphic glory. I mean, Metroid Prime Hunters, Mario Hoops 3 on 3, and even the upcoming Meet the Robinsons have shown what the machine can do.
Personally I suspect it's just taking this long for developers to learn how to tweak the DS just the right way. Maybe they have not known the best way to squeeze graphics out of the machine or maybe they are just too lazy to go that extra mile. Regardless, I think we will be seeing much better 3D games coming for the DS in the near future. So far it has basked in 2D glory but now developers are feeling comfortable enough that they can get some 3D action happening now too.
The DS wasn't made to have superior graphics, but instead focused on better game play. IMO I really don't care about graphics, I just care if the game is fun. Any game can have good graphics but it takes much more effort to make a game that is enjoyably fun.  The DS has lots of good games out here right now that all have great game play. For example WarioWare Touched! and New Super Mario Brothers became popular games because of their nostalgic and simple game play. Though these days I think the DS is lagging in producing great games like the ones in the past. If you want great graphics for a port go with the psp and if you want great graphics for a home console then go with an XBOX 360 or a PS3.
I was thinking about the graphical capabilities of the DS and was about to create a new thread about it. But I'll just add to this one.
I'm 27 years old but grew up with Game Boy. Then I had the original PlayStation. I had a PS2 for a little while but college got the better of me. Now I'm an adult and have a real job and I haven't played video games for 6 or 7 years probably. But the DS Lite caught my attention (because of it's resemblance to an iBook which I have [yes, I'm a nerd]) so I picked one up last month and have been enjoying several games so far.
At first I thought the graphics were kind of "meh." But then I played Metroid which, in my opinion, has graphics comparable to the PS1. After some research I decided to buy Asphalt 2 and the graphics remind me very much of Twisted Metal 2 for PS1. Plus Tomb Raider is getting great reviews graphics-wise (despite being a 2D/3D platformer). So I know the little DS can push some polygons. After seeing just those games I realized that game developers were not using the DS to its fullest graphically.
Why? My theory is that Nintendo systems generally have a stigma attached to them. "It's a little kids' system." But when I played Metroid, Tomb Raider and Asphalt 2, I realized that the DS is graphically capable of much more than developers are putting out there.
My guess is that the developers don't want to sink too much money into an unproven field of gaming on a system like the DS. Sure, Nintendo is the system of Pokemon, Mario and RPGs, but the DS is capable of more and with as quickly as the Lites are flying off the shelves the gaming audience has become more diverse.
Come on developers! Push the envelope!
The DS is a very good portable console in my opinion!

Im not saying the console isnt any good! im saying that i feel more could be done to enhance the visual aspects of the games!
I'd love to see final fantasy 7 ported over! I know that its a gigantic game. I think one way they could get around larger games in size could be to take advantage of both the DS card slot and GBA game slot. Possibly have certain parts of the game on the DS card and others on the GBA slot, I don't even know if this is possible to unite the two slots into one smooth game, but I just think it could be a neat idea...or whateverSamslayerYea its possible. But that'd be lame. Besides I dont think 3 discs could fit on 3 cards. It take like 4 or 5, depending on the quality.
