No, it's just an update. Official statement from the Official Nintendo Magazine.

The DSi still takes the same games, but it has a few major updates like a music player, an SD Card slot and a 0.5 megapixel camera.
There are also a few smaller ones, including a screen enlargement of 17%, new speakers, new power-button.
The DSi has also gotten rid of the GBA slot, stopping you being able to play games like Guitar Hero:On tour and any game that is compatible with the rumbe pack (in other words, barely any)

Overall, the only signs of DSi exclusive games are games that will be able to be bought on a new service called DSiWare, where you can buy downloadable games, just like WiiWare.

No. It's only an update of the DS.

Think about it this way... The Nintendo DS evolved into the Nintendo DS Lite. So this is most likely just another change.

Aside from the major stuff like the Camera and two touch screens, nothing much will change.

its more like Gameboy Color to Gameboy. Gameboy color and DSi both have exclusive games as well as a few games developed for that particular system but are backwards compatible with gameboy and ds. Example pokemon gold/silver were made for gbc but work on gb with the loss of color. Pokemon Black/white were made for DSi and work on DS with the loss of the IR and cam. also the dsi does have a slight increase in specs.
