I recently sold my wii and two games and made exactly $190 in store credit. Now I have to decide if its worth upgrading.I am going to college in september and I don't think I will be bringing my xbox. I will spend my free time away from video games. However, it would be nice tohave a handheld system to play at night maybe in bed for an hour every now and then. Since I am currently playing the Soul Silver and soon after spirit tracks,I was thinking that now might be the best time to get it.

However I am aware that by purchasing it I will miss out on red dead Redemption and possibly APB. With that being said I still have to finish mass effect 2 and I have other fun games to play through again like arkham asylum that I have only beat once. I also have MLG gamebattles for Gears of War 2 so I don't NEED other games per se....

So I have to weigh out the advantages of using up all my gaming money for an upgrade that will make my current games more enjoyable (bigger screens, nicer looking console + internet browser) vs. 2 to 3 awsome PC/XBOX 360 games.

Sure its my decision but everyone here is a gamer so I would value your opinions.

Personally, I find no need to get the XL over something else in your case. If I were where you were, I'd use the money to go for a few extra games on other systems, or if you're in need of anew DS, go for the original DSi. It's 20$ less, and unless you have bad eyesight it's not really going to make a big difference on gameplay. If you don't need an upgrade now, I'd suggest waiting for the 3DS or something, and then make the switch.

If you are going from the original DS to either of the DSi systems (DSi or DSi XL), the screens alone will be a huge difference. You'll wonder how you ever lived without them. The new menu system can also be used to hot-swap games without powering off the system. With that said, the 3DS was already announced and effectively renders the DSi XL obsolete. If you think you can hold out, it might be a better choice to wait for the next system which could be out as early as this year (doubtful outside of Japan) , or on into sprint 2011. Another option to consider is to check craigslist or something and see if you can get a DSi for much cheaper. I regularly see them for sale on my local craigslist for $100-120.

Unless it's something you absolutely must have, I would say hold on to your current DS for now. The 3DS is supposedly a year away at most.
