DS Lite. I am actually regretting my purchase of the DSi. The diminished battery life is a real turn-off for me and the lack of a GBA port basically ruined the system for me. I find myself using my DS Lite more than the DSi because all around, it is a better system.
The battery life isn't a probably as long as you don't have it on blinding-high-power and don't play it for six hours straight. It only takes a half hour to charge which is a lot faster then the DS Lite.DS Lite. I am actually regretting my purchase of the DSi. Definitely the DSi. I upgraded from the phat, but I can tell you that I've played all 3 systems to a certain extent and I can firmly say the DSi is the better choice. Brighter screens, more options, new updated Wii-like menu, exclusive DSi games, camera, sound editing tools, but most of all - the bigger screens impact gameplay a lot, IMO. You might think "Oh, well, it's only a quarter of an inch bigger, that won't make a difference at all" You're wrong. You have to see and play it to believe it, I'm even replaying games because of the bigger screens - they look so nice!
Such a shame you can't play GBA games, but just get an SP or something for that. I use the DSi for DS games and I'm loving it!
The person is trying to decide what they prefer. So you say pros and cons about all of them and they decide. Its just some people are saying you should get ___ because I LIKE IT. What people want when they ask for help is pros and cons not some one saying what you said. you people would be saying the same thing even if nintendo threw out 20 versions of the ds.
seriously just get what one you personally prefer.

I had the ds lite, and this christmas I got the dsi. I am much happier with it. I would buy the dsi and get a cheap used ds lite if you must have the gba slot.
ds lite bcuz it can play gba games, even though dsi can do cool things i like gba games too.

OBJECTION!!!!! 8)
Well, my DS Lite malfunctioned a lot and my DSi is still going strong (except my trigger button sticks because it fell off my desk).
It all depends, though. Yeah, you'll miss out on GBA games, but if you really like those, then you should already have a GBA as backup.
Not to mention that the DSi library is getting more and more good games: Dr. Mario, Mario and DK March of the Minis, Phantasy Star Zero, and Dark Void Zero to name a few.
There will also be upcoming games utilizing the DSi's camera and extra power.
But if money is an issue, the DS Lite is still good.

I let my cousin play it for a while, and he decided to put it on the very edgemy desk vertically.
Luckily, none of my games require frequent use of the L button.

Sorry just wanted to show what my cat did when I had that page open.
If you already don't have a DS, get the DSi.
If you have a phat, you might want to upgrade. If you have a lite it might not be worth it.
Currently the DSi has no worthwhile exclusives outside of DSiware, but that might change soon. A new pokemon game is supposed to be announced this week and many people are speculating it will be exclusive to the DSi, and if pokemon does that, everything else will follow suit.
If you worried about losing your GBA functionality, the SP is superior to playing GBA games then the DS was, due to the SP being able to access multiplayer features. The only features you'll be missing out on is palpark on the pokemon games, the guitar hero games, and a few obscure titles that require the gba slot.
You can probably get a DSi cheap from online shopping or a game store. In my opinion, you might regret buying a lite if they announce DSi only games soon, so if your worried about that definately pick up the DSi.
DSi.
But isn't there a topic that's dedicated to discussing this? On the first page?

I think you should get a dsi. i have one and my little brother and older sister are always doing the mess with your voice thing on there, and if you install your music you can play with that on there too. It's a really cool game system it takes pictures too and they sell really cool cases for the. I have a neon blue case on mine. If I were you i'd get a dsi.

The DSi is just more back lit I don't see what is so amazing about it there aren't any games that you can play on the DSi but not on the plain old DS and the DS is plenty back lit. if you want to be seeing a tiny computer screen feel free. But the DSi is much more expensive. Your choice but if your not a spoiled kid that gets 100 dollars per week then you should get the DS. Xenexis
Sorry to shoot you down off your high horse, but need I list every game or application that is already available for the DSi? Or need I go and search to also bring up all the DSi exclusives coming out soon? :/
