I dont know if you remember from 20 years ago the powergove for the NES. It was a glove that you used for NES games where it had motion inovation just like the wii remote. Of chorse it was not rearly as advanced and it barly worked but do you think that was the wii remote of its time. DO you think thats were the idea came from.

The powerglove is not the wiimote of its time cuz the wiimote is used in most games and the powerglove wasn't.

Not sure if the wiimote idea came from the powerglove through.

The Power Glove was a great stepping stone for the video game industry, but I don't think it was much more that.

When the Power Glove was released it was a novel idea for the time, but the technology was a little young. If anything I would think arcade style games and controls were more of factor when it comes to the Wii

I don't know if it was the Wii remote of it's time because the Powerglove was a complete failure. I'd be more likely to say that it was the Virtual Boy of it's time. An idea with potential but so poorly executed that it never took off.

The power glove didn't make any sense whatsoever. You would like make a fist in order for a character to jump.

The Power Glove was an attempt to do the same thing that the Wiimote is doing right now, but unfortunately, it was a third-party thing that attempted to map motions to button presses (since that's what the NES responded to) and did not exactly work very well as a result. With the Wiimote, the system and the games themselves actually expect motion as input, which is why it works much better.

The Power Glove was far to ahead of its time, it has obvious similarities to the wiimote, but I wouldnt call it the wiimote of its time. Like people said it was mostly a novelty, and barely worked, unlike the Wiimote. It was an admirable attempt to add a new type of interface to gaming, however thats all it was, and nothing more.

I don't know if it's fair to compare the Power Glove to the Virtual Boy. The Power Glove didn't work, the Virtual Boy worked great, it was just lame. There's no comparison between the Power Glove and the Wii remote either. The Wii remote does everything it says it can do and its main limitation is effort put into software. The Power Glove was just a 3rd party gimmick.

Didn't get the support the Wiimote had, and it wasn't as responsive.

Maybe the power glove would have got more support if it actually worked.

...it's so bad...

Yeah, the Powerglove was intended to be the Wiimote of its time. The basic technology was similar and it even had sensors to put on the tv. It failed to deliver for two reasons:

- It was rushed and not properly tested

- Only a few games were specifically designed for it, so with 99% of the titles it was clumsy.

The powerglove is the Wii remote of its time, but they are very different. Because the powerglove was left behind and never used, but hopefuly the Wii remote will not be left behind.
