Is the sound in Disgaea incredibly low for you?

I started with this game recently and Im already addicted to it. It's my first SRPG, so there are still some things on the gameplay i dont understand/pay too much attention for the moment. So far the game is great, but one thing bothers me: the music sounds incredibly low in the speakers, so much that i have to force my ears to listen to it. In other games i probably wouldnt have cared, but the music in this game is awesome, so its really sad that i will barely be able to hear it. Using headphones help a little but not too much really. I dont know if is a problem with me or the console, because other games such as contra 4 sound with the volume really high...

I'm not sure, but there may be somewhere in the option menu to adjust the volume... It's been a little while since I've played that, but yeah, it's an incredible game. Check out the 12 episode anime they put out for that game too... after you beat it, hopefully. The music may be good in the DS version, but it's even better in the anime and the earlier releases on the PS2/PSP. Right now, I just started up on Disgaea 2, and it's quite a jump to be re-impressed by the music or the graphics (which were negligable on the DS, mostly 'cause the rest of the game is so awesome that it eats up all of your attention).

all the original music was apparently recomposed and compressed to save space on the cartridge. if you can find the original soundtrack, you would find that it sounds a lot louder and better

That is why i've told everyone to get either the PS2 or PSP version as they've better presentations but if you're into the gameplay and don't give a damn about the crappy music and all, get the DS version as it has more contents.

It's odd, I played first the DS version and thought it was great except for the low volume of the music.

Yesterday i tried try the PS2 version and I thought the music sonded a lot worse. High volume, yes, but i somehow i prefer the midi-style music of the DS version (i always love midi music in games). Playing in a TV screen is good and having the original japanese voices is also good, but i think ill continue playing the DS version; i can use headphones or connect the DS to my speakers and hear the music as loud as i want
