its easier to just plug the 3ds directly to the wall charger, plus with a case on the 3ds it wont fit in the cradle, is there any benifits of using the charger cradle?

I guess since it's inductive charging it's easier to just slap it in there without actually plugging in anything. That's the only thing I can see.

There's no real difference, but it's convenient because it charges the system without requiring you to plug anything into it. I like it, it's pretty neat.

However, you should still unplug the cord from the wall when it's not in use, so some people may see that as detrimental to the point of the plug-less charger.

It's not an inductive charger. There are prongs that come out and connect to the 3DS.

As for the point of the cradle, it makes charging the 3DS as easy is setting it down on your desk, which is nice.

It's actually not inductive charging though. When you set your 3DS on the cradle, that black lever depresses and causes a prong to come out of the top right of the cradle and into 2 covered holes that surround the normal AC port on the system. Just press that lever / button looking thing and you'll see. It's pretty cool.

*Edit* Gah! You beat me to it.

The cradle seems like a waste of plastic if you ask me....everybody used original DSs, DS Lites and DSis just fine without it, and whenever you're playing the 3DS indoors, you're likely to have it plugged into the mains anyway, you can't play with it properly whilst it's sat on the cradle.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if they ditched it with future release versions of the 3DS

Ah ok. Thanks for the heads up.

Just to fix my original statement, it's not inductive charging but it's just as easy to slap it in anyway.
