Is there anything you can do wireless on pokemon white without friend codes?

Basically can you battle or trade with anybody on pokemon black or white without having to get their friend code first? Can you just meet people randomly? Or is having a friend code, then getting them online the only way to do those things?

There's the GTS as well as an anonymous trade mode, but neither of them are going to be as good as what you can do with friendcodes.

Oh right ok, I do kinda remember the GTS from Diamond, what is exactly is that again? and how do you get onto this annonymous trade mode? :)

The GTS is where you put a Pokemon up for trade, asking for a specific Pokemon in return. The Anonymous trade mode (I forget what it's called) sets you up with a person in real time, where you take turns offering Pokemon from your box until a trade is initiated. Communication is based on emoticons though, so if you're looking for something in particular you're not going to have an easy time with it. It's easy to access, as it's available in any Pokemon Center.
