Obviously the virtual console is the most important thing about the Wii. The Wii wouldn't have sold over 70 million systems if it wasn't for the fact that you can download games like China Warrior on it for 600 points. That's why all those casual gamers and retirees bought the system. It has nothing to do with Wii Sports, Mario Kart and New Super Mario Bros Wii.AlmightyDerek
Umm... I stand corrected? :P Got a nice chuckle out of that one, though. Once again, the VC is a very solid service for what it's at least supposed to be, but I think the perception of the VC has drawn WAY too much unwarrented attention and backlash at times. Once again, it typically boils down to usually unreasonable expectations by those who expect each and every nostalgic fix to satisfied through the service, when that was never really the VC's true goal. Not that wanting a particular game on the service is a bad thing, but I just think it makes the whole concept of releasing classic games every so often less about the experience and more about fanservice for a select few, and apparently, that just doesn't seem to be worth it.
Sometimes, I actually feel like I'm a bit tough on the VC, but it's not like I don't own a couple of classic games myself. Getting Super Mario Bros. 3 was a no-brainer, seeing as how it's my all-time favorite game, and Pulseman was a nice treat, seeing as how it's a solid import game from a developer I admire greatly in GameFreak. There is actual appeal there, but I'm still not against Nintendo and other developers giving more attention to WiiWare development and distribution, since I think there are also plenty of quality titles on the service, provided that you don't dismiss EVERYTHING there as shovelware the moment you lay eyes on it. Among my backlog of Wii titles, a nice chuck of those games are actually WiiWare games, and I like the idea of having fresh and affordable titles that I can download at a small cost to fit my current gaming mood and playing games that use the Wii's functionality as well, if not better, than most retail titles.
I'm sure that Nintendo will continue to support the VC down the line, but regardless, I just can't say I comprehend the obsession of whether or not what games will eventually come out and when, especially if I have it or can go on eBay or even something like a Flea Market, Yard Sale, used game store, etc. and get said game for probably a lower cost and quicker. *shrugs*
