I have no idea. I own it and have great times with it. I guess the internet is on it's period, or was at the time.
The DS game is completely different then the original yoshi's island and its a new entry/sequel in the series so thats why it didn't score the same.
I'd say the SNES/GBA version is SLIGHTLY better, I still had a ton of fun with the DS game and you can always get the GBA version for your DS aswell? :P Their both great games.
Not as fun, a lot of it seems going up and down, not sidescrolling, and the wind elements suck, I don't like having to change babies all the time. It's just not as stream lined experience as the SNES version. So what's worse about the DS version, compared to the SNES one? The visuals look the same, if not better on the DS and both screens are being used at the same time, which adds to a gameplay value.
Chubah
It was a faithful sequel, and I really enjoyed it, but many reviewers thought that the music was unfaithful to the original, and the overall premise of having more than one baby was repetitive. Overall, I really liked it, and you probably would too.
Both Yoshi's Island SNES and GBA versions received amazing review scores and people loved them. why does the Nintendo DS version have such a low score in ALL gaming websites except from Gamespot? It received around 7.5-8/10 on average. What's the difference between the original(SNES) and the DS one, and which one is the best?ChubahMainly for being more of the samething, I always find that to be a tad annoying when reviewers do that, some games they overlook for being more of the samething and some they knock it for being more of the samething, some reviewers need to make up their mind.
