Although I enjoyed Other M, I would hope the next installment would be in first person. Thoughts?

I think 3rd person is cool every once in awhile, but I like 1st person better.

I would like a story-heavy first person shooter Metroid developed by RETRO Studios.

I'd like to see a blend of things again.

I honestly feel every Metroid game is different then the others, even the Prime games - although similar to each other, all three are different.

So in terms of what happens to Metroid from now on (third person or first) - I'm guessing we'll see another Fusion of the two, like Other M - but maybe done in some different way.

However, I have to say, I'd prefer it to be in third person. I love the Prime Trilogy, but I missed seeing Samus.

Third person is fine, but I don't think analog is necessary. Other M played just fine.

I really dont care what perspective the game is in as long as it is good, but I have enjoyed the primes games immensely. I love Prime's gameplay/story approach (Prime 3 to a lesser extent), and I miss the superb atmosphere(Prime 3 to a lesser extent) and art direction. Metroid Gaiden is fine and all, but if they do go with that approach again they better give me analog controls and less linear gameplay.

I kinda want to see a behind the shoulder view like a TPS/TPA maybe. I think mostly I want more open areas like Prime though Other M was a little to corridor-y at time. Also I still want my 2d Metroid Dread game!!! >:|

I'm pretty indifferent... as long as it's developed by a different studio / is different from Other M I'm open to whatever direction the devs think is best.

I'd love the controls of Other M in a game as beautiful and explorable as Metroid Prime. A mix of the core gameplay in Other M with the more traditional Metroid approach of Prime (and all the 2D games) would be Metroid heaven for me.

Ultimately there's no wrong answer for me as Prime is my favorite game of all time. But I LOVE Other M and the classic style melded with 3D. I;ve been very vocal lately how much I would like a [longer] sequel to Fusion in the Other M style. And I would loe for Team Ninja to do that as well. Either way More Metroid means I'm even more happy :)

I hope the next Metroid is like the Prime trilogy was. More exploring, first person, and Samus not talking preferably. :)

I did like Other M but I still prefer all 3 Primes over it.

Even though the Prime games are my favorite, I always prefer a 3rd person perspective. I'd like to see the next game follow Prime's basic design structure, but in 3rd person.

Where is the "Both" or "Either" option? What's wrong with doing what they may be doing right now, sometimes 3rd person, sometimes 1st person. Both suit Metroid so I don't see why we can't have both. Prime is awesome, Other M is awesome (and could improve!).

I enjoyed the first person view for consoles and large screens, it was even pretty good on the DS Hunters. I still think that for Consoles first person was a great change from the side scrollers but I think hand helds should stick with side scrolling. Of course thats just my opinion.

Agreed. Although I would like a Wiimote with a bigger D pad. I had a little trouble running diagonally because of how stiff and small the D Pad was. (No jokes pls, we get it. hah hah.) A larger D pad would make it a lot easier.

I personally would like to see new 2D Metroids on the DS or 3DS, and Other M style 3D Metroids on the Wii and its succesor. The Primes were a good series, but 3 is enough.

On a side note, I've noticed most people who prefer the Primes started with the Primes. Is there anyone out there whos played Metroid since the beginning but prefer the Primes?

I played and beat every Metroid when it was new. While I loved the Primes, the 3rd Person style is still the best way to do it. REAL Space Jump and Screw Attack pls.

(For the sake of full disclosure, never beat Hunters cause frankly, it stinks. But I'm working on it now just to cut that last notch off my belt)

As long as it's a well-done game that has everything I look for in Metroid, I don't care what perspective it's in.

It should stay in third person. We have had four first-person Metroid games in a really short period of time. Give that perspective a good rest, and then come back to it later.

I like The Other M's controls. I'd be good with seeing another game that was done similarly. Third person and 1st combined. I love how the Prime series was done, but I think the 1st-person view is part of what makes that trilogy unique, and it's time to change things up a bit. Also, I don't think we need analog control (I don't like the nunchuck much..) unless the Classic Controller could be used.

Third person.

First person tends to limit the motions of the character, and I've always felt that Samus should be quick and agile...

That's one of the things that Other M pulls of wonderfully, compared to the Prime series.

Ibought the game last week and It's still sealed. I haven't played it yet because I'm playing Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep right now and then Halo Reach comes out so who knows when I will play it. I will get to it eventually. I can honestly say since I have been playing video games back in 1989 I have never really shown much interest in the Metroid franchise other then Metroid for the NES which I loved and enjoyed. I have never played any of the games beyond that. I was so out of the loop that I had no idea Super Metroid came out for SNES.

Recently since seeing the Metroid Prime Trilogy (which I was gonna buy when it came out and should of because now you can't find them anywhere except on Amazon brand new for 80 to 90 bucks) have I found a new found interest in Metroid especially after seeing Metroid: Other M. Never to late to start liking a video game franchise you were originally never really interested in is my motto. I have to say though as cool as the the whole FPS idea was for Prime,

I think I would prefer 3rd person only because thats were it all started and thats how I remember it being played and I'm really tired of every single game being FPS nowadays. There are just way to many. We need more 3rd person games and less Halo's, COD's (literally a lot less COD games period because they come out with one every year which is rediculous), and Battlefields. It's gonna be a while before anyone else does it better. I do own Super Metroid on the VC now and the original Metroid for NES once again and I am hoping to get my hands onMetroid II for NES on the VC when and If it ever comes out. Hopefully I'll get the Metroid Prime's one day too.

Thats exactly how i feel, I think it should stay in third person for a while since first person metroid was getting stale IMO. I loved how other m played and i hope we get another just like it soon, i want to see more of samus's story after fusion unfold.

Agreed. If they keep on doing prequels to Fusion they will have their hands tied because taking the plot to some different place may cause plot holes on the timeline. If they create a game after Fusion, that is heavily focused on story, they will be free to create an overwhelming tale and do whatever they want.

I think third person (Loved prime, but its time for a change), although I want to see changes with how Other M was done. I want more focus on platofrming and shooting, rather then dodging and melee attacking.

That's a touch choice. The first Metroid I played was Echoes and the controls were okay. However, when I played Other M the controls were so natural and I loved going from third to first person view. My final decision is going to be third person because I like seeing what's around me all the time and being able to dodge like you could in Other M. It had great gameplay in my opinion and I've always been a third person kind of gamer.

third person just because one game in third person isn't much, we already have had 3 prime games, 4 if you include hunters so I would like to see some more third person, I like the mix though hopefully we'll get some more of that. I wouldn't mind if they had a first person online metroid though, third person online doesn't quite work as well.

Needs to be either a 2D sidescroller or a 3D shooter. I'm not a fan of 2.5D, and on top of that Sakamoto doesn't seem to know what he's doing. If left entirely in the hands of Team Ninja I'm sure this would've been a better experience. Look at what the Prime guys accomplished when given the torch

First person and/or 2D. Not the psuedo-combination stuff that Other M did. Continue a line of Prime-like games, with a consistent viewpoint. Then branch out with the handheld 2D titles, maybe pop out some NSMB style 2.5D ones too, using Shadow Complex as an example. A Metroid game with Shadow Complex' gameplay would be awesome, and that's kind of what I was hoping Other M was going to be when it was originally announced. Oh well.

I normally don't like 3rd person action games, but this one worked well enough that I wouldn't mind a refined sequel to this setup. There are a few things I hope they lose in making the follow-up. Regardless, I would rather have another one of these than another Prime.

I've never played Metroid the Other M, though I have watched my brother play it, so maybe he should be answering this question. But I would say I like the way it is now. Though Im sure it wouldnt hurt to make it possible to move around while in 1st person mode. Other than that, keep it the way it is.

Don't know really there both good but I always wanna see how the early build of primes would have looked like if it was third person.. and maybe retro would make it? http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20100627225127/metroid/images/thumb/9/90/Samus_3rd_person_perspective.jpg/180px-Samus_3rd_person_perspective.jpg ^^ sorry don't know how to embed an image.
