I'd like to see a blend of things again.
I honestly feel every Metroid game is different then the others, even the Prime games - although similar to each other, all three are different.
So in terms of what happens to Metroid from now on (third person or first) - I'm guessing we'll see another Fusion of the two, like Other M - but maybe done in some different way.
However, I have to say, I'd prefer it to be in third person. I love the Prime Trilogy, but I missed seeing Samus.
I'd love the controls of Other M in a game as beautiful and explorable as Metroid Prime. A mix of the core gameplay in Other M with the more traditional Metroid approach of Prime (and all the 2D games) would be Metroid heaven for me.
Ultimately there's no wrong answer for me as Prime is my favorite game of all time. But I LOVE Other M and the classic style melded with 3D. I;ve been very vocal lately how much I would like a [longer] sequel to Fusion in the Other M style. And I would loe for Team Ninja to do that as well. Either way More Metroid means I'm even more happy :)
i agree with youThird person is fine, but I don't think analog is necessary. Other M played just fine.

Agreed. Although I would like a Wiimote with a bigger D pad. I had a little trouble running diagonally because of how stiff and small the D Pad was. (No jokes pls, we get it. hah hah.) A larger D pad would make it a lot easier.
I personally would like to see new 2D Metroids on the DS or 3DS, and Other M style 3D Metroids on the Wii and its succesor. The Primes were a good series, but 3 is enough.
On a side note, I've noticed most people who prefer the Primes started with the Primes. Is there anyone out there whos played Metroid since the beginning but prefer the Primes?
I played and beat every Metroid when it was new. While I loved the Primes, the 3rd Person style is still the best way to do it. REAL Space Jump and Screw Attack pls.
(For the sake of full disclosure, never beat Hunters cause frankly, it stinks. But I'm working on it now just to cut that last notch off my belt)
I like The Other M's controls. I'd be good with seeing another game that was done similarly. Third person and 1st combined. I love how the Prime series was done, but I think the 1st-person view is part of what makes that trilogy unique, and it's time to change things up a bit. Also, I don't think we need analog control (I don't like the nunchuck much..) unless the Classic Controller could be used.
I would like a story-heavy first person shooter Metroid developed by RETRO Studios.

same here this is what i was gonna say. also i cant believe the votes for third person.
Ibought the game last week and It's still sealed. I haven't played it yet because I'm playing Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep right now and then Halo Reach comes out so who knows when I will play it. I will get to it eventually. I can honestly say since I have been playing video games back in 1989 I have never really shown much interest in the Metroid franchise other then Metroid for the NES which I loved and enjoyed. I have never played any of the games beyond that. I was so out of the loop that I had no idea Super Metroid came out for SNES.
Recently since seeing the Metroid Prime Trilogy (which I was gonna buy when it came out and should of because now you can't find them anywhere except on Amazon brand new for 80 to 90 bucks) have I found a new found interest in Metroid especially after seeing Metroid: Other M. Never to late to start liking a video game franchise you were originally never really interested in is my motto. I have to say though as cool as the the whole FPS idea was for Prime,
I think I would prefer 3rd person only because thats were it all started and thats how I remember it being played and I'm really tired of every single game being FPS nowadays. There are just way to many. We need more 3rd person games and less Halo's, COD's (literally a lot less COD games period because they come out with one every year which is rediculous), and Battlefields. It's gonna be a while before anyone else does it better. I do own Super Metroid on the VC now and the original Metroid for NES once again and I am hoping to get my hands onMetroid II for NES on the VC when and If it ever comes out. Hopefully I'll get the Metroid Prime's one day too.
It should stay in third person. We have had four first-person Metroid games in a really short period of time. Give that perspective a good rest, and then come back to it later.

Thats exactly how i feel, I think it should stay in third person for a while since first person metroid was getting stale IMO. I loved how other m played and i hope we get another just like it soon, i want to see more of samus's story after fusion unfold.

Agreed. If they keep on doing prequels to Fusion they will have their hands tied because taking the plot to some different place may cause plot holes on the timeline. If they create a game after Fusion, that is heavily focused on story, they will be free to create an overwhelming tale and do whatever they want.
I think third person (Loved prime, but its time for a change), although I want to see changes with how Other M was done. I want more focus on platofrming and shooting, rather then dodging and melee attacking.
I am hoping to get my hands onMetroid II for NES on the VC when and If it ever comes out. FoulcryMetroid II was on Gameboy, not NES, so it probably won't be coming to VC.

i'd rather have a sequel to fusion over more prequels[QUOTE="Gohansephiroth"]

I like that idea. I definately want a sequel to Fusion.[QUOTE="Foulcry"] I am hoping to get my hands onMetroid II for NES on the VC when and If it ever comes out. There has been enough of Prime and I don't want to wait another 6-8 years for the next 3rdP Metroid once again, so...
I've never played Metroid the Other M, though I have watched my brother play it, so maybe he should be answering this question. But I would say I like the way it is now. Though Im sure it wouldnt hurt to make it possible to move around while in 1st person mode. Other than that, keep it the way it is.
Don't know really there both good but I always wanna see how the early build of primes would have looked like if it was third person.. and maybe retro would make it? http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20100627225127/metroid/images/thumb/9/90/Samus_3rd_person_perspective.jpg/180px-Samus_3rd_person_perspective.jpg ^^ sorry don't know how to embed an image.ssj_neo
