Oh man I can see Iwata at E3:
"Last year we showed a preview of what Zelda could look like in HD. We eventually realize that the tone of the new installment of Legend of Zelda on the Wii U doesn't match the tone with high definition settings. Rather than mix high definition resolution have decided to implement a new art style."
Looking at the software for home console systems, there are certainly the software titles for which very rich graphics must be reproduced on HD displays… But we do not think that any and all the software must be created in that fashion.Rather, we have to create the dynamic range of appeals that the consumers can appreciate… As we will showcase the Wii U at E3 in June this year, the detailed announcements must wait until then, but we are aiming to make a system which shall not be forced into competing with the others where the contenders can fight only with massive developer resources and long development times as their weapons.Iwata
In other words Iwata is stating that not all games on the Wii U have to be graphical powerhouses made by large development teams with a lot of resources. There was no mention of 'Not every Wii U game has to be in HD'.

Pretty much what the awesome mod and some careful readers have noted. I do not need to add in my 2 cents here save for one thing: "Not every System has to be Wii or DS *something*"
Why u no read more than the title."facepalm" for the love of god......
NINTENDO WHY U NO UNDERSTAND MODERNGAMING
if you are gonna have an HD capable console, then all games should use it to its full extent...

i did, what did i understand it wrong?
iwata said that not every game should have to use HD, yes zelda will, but not all games. what im sayin is if the system has HD, then it should be USED for one. defeats the purpose

he didn't say that :/ all games will run in the same resolution, just don't expect wii sports to look like battlefield 3.Japanese developers like Marvelous interactive (Harvest moon) Neverland. Co (Rune Factory) said that they are not interested in developing in HD at this point. I wouldn't want to see those titles become handheld exclusive.D4W1L4Hcorrection: natsume is the developer of both harvest moon and rune factory. maybe neverland co ported it and marvelous published it, but natsume is the one that makes the games.

I'm pretty sure Natsume owns both IP's, but they aren't the people who develop them. Atleast that what it says on their Wiki page.
"When I said HD, I was reffering to it as a concept, not a resolution.."
What a moron :P. Seriously that guy should be slapped so hard lol. HD is the resolution...thats it. HD doesn't mean the game has to be a technical masterpiece with extreme detail. I hate it when people say HD graphics in reference to the power of the 360 and PS3.
ANYWAY, who knows exaclty what Iwata means. As long as Zelda, Metroid and more get beautiful HD graphcis, I am happy.
I'm pretty sure every Wii U game will be HD. HD means just "high definition" which is higher resolution (720p and up). What he ment is that not every Wii U game needs to have cutting-edge tech behind it which makes perfect sense. You don't need Crysis-like graphics for Wii Sports after all.
