It's a noticeable difference. Without a protector, all I had to do was make contact with the screen and the touch registered (on my DSi). With the protector I had to apply a small amount of pressure for the stylus to register at all.
I guess i will have to choose between getting normal scratches from use on the touch screen or putting one of these protectors.soulreaper-4
I would choose screen protectors. I think I remember hearing someone say that if you have dust on the screen while using the stylus, you can cause damage to the screen.

I have a screen protector on the touch screen, and it has received many scratches, so i wipe the scratches off. I don't think I abuse the screens... Screen protectors get scratched more easily than the actual screen. And I'm not sure what you mean; I never implied anyone abused their screens.
I actually got a screen protector from Target that came with some styluses and I thought it'd last maybe like 2 days...well I got it like 3 months ago and there isn't a single scratch on it and I play my DSi a lot. It's a lot better then Hori ones.

Wouldn't know about that. Lots of people on this forum recommend Hori, and i think i remember another forum i used to go to having people who also recommended Hori over other ones.

Mine was licensed by Nintendo too.It was $10 and came with a case for 4 DS games, a couple of styluses, a screen cleaner and the screen protectors.
I've had one of those since my sister's DS screen became a mess for overplaying Cooking Mama and Pokemon Ranger. Yes, you loose some sensibility but it's better than ending with an screen full of scratches.
