Wow, now let me preface this by saying it could just be me and my connection, but I've been playing Mario Kart Wii online with no lag this past week. I got Brawl at launch but finally got around to playing it and for the first time am trying online mode.

Jeez, first I'm in the practice stage for some five minutes waiting, waiting, waiting, nothing, no opponents registered.

I back out and try some single player, come back, and again, waiting, waiting, and then a disconnect error codeafter a long time waiting again.

The third time after some five minutes again, waiting, waiting, and finally I get in a match and a minute in it disconnects.

I know I'm late to the party with this realization, but what is up with Nintendo, this is terrible. Is there any chance they fix this in the future?

It's just server traffic that's being overloaded. Yeah, it's broken. Not Nintendo's best online efforts.

Welcome to 2 months ago. I know people call us "old fashioned", but I like to think of it as a simpler time. We all drive "cars", and eat "food".

Also, Brawl's online doesn't work. Ah, the Golden Age...

Yeah, I know that... they need better servers, but I guess they just can't afford it or they don't wanna do it. It seems they have made some improvements, because opponents always register, but once the match starts, lag is a MAJOR issue, I mean, the game is unplayable... it works fine if you play against 2 or 1 player, but the odds that happen are low. I also find this very frustrating... instead of wanting to play against other 3 players I pray for only 2 or 1 to join... which is ridiculous. Also, the timer is just annoying... why 70 seconds?!? what really bothers me is that if someone joins, the timer resets and you have to wait ither 70 seconds... just plain annoying. Worst WFC game imo... Brawling with Friends online it perfect (no lag whatsoever), but theres a great issue: stupid FC and the worst Online service: o chat, no ranking, no nothing, you cannot talk, and the other player doesnt add you automatically, or anything... is just desastrous... why!!? This shold have been epic, the best gift from Ninty... but its just plain $%#... it sucks.

Like I said, I'm really late to the party on this. But I just shrugged it off as people with bad connections or exaggerations. I figured how bad could it be to just jump into a match really quick.

What I was really hoping to achieve with this thread was find out if anyone knows if Nintendo is working on a solution, or improvements in any way? Have they even addressed the problems?

Now that Mario Kart proves free Wi-Fi connections can work, I just figured maybe they could learn from that and come back to Brawl is some way to improve it. I mean this game sold so many copies, imagine all the frustrated and dissappointed people out there.

I know I'm beating a dead horse, but it's just sad, so much potential here. I hope it gets better.

It's the 'with anyone' feature that's broken. Friend Codes get the job done, but there is nothing special to do there either.

If they are working on the problem, I haven't heard about it.

When I bought Brawl, I thought the online would be awesome and that I would play it all the time and have a great time. Even Gamespot said that the online was "lag-free". How wrong we were.

Yeah I'm kinda the same way.

I played Mario Kart Wii online and I have to say that it is AMAZING. Brawl on the other hand is lag-fest 2000. Now I don't have a terrible connection. It's certainly not the best but after seeing Mario Kart Wii's online capabilities I can't help but wish that Brawl would be the same.

No, Brawl's online is crap, deal with it. It won't be better tomorrow, in a few months, or ever. If you want online gaming, play MoHH2 or Mario Kart Wii. Those games have great online, not Smash Brothers Crawl.

You only waited five minutes? Try more like half an hour, then you might get a match.

Yeah.. it's pretty upsetting that the efforts that Nintendo has put into Brawl online is zilch.... I would rejoice if one day I try to connect and it send me a message saying "Brawl online is undergoing maintainance. Please check again in a day or so!"

Not gunna happen.

I never play With Anyone, so I don't have that problem. I just find people who want to play that have good connections, add their FC real quick, and play a few rounds. I've played matches with people in Florida, me being in California, with only a few instances of lag.

Play with Friend Codes. It's fantastic.

Play with Anyone sucks.

Yeah it usually lags when you play with Anyone.

When i play with friends its not as bad, but it does lag sometimes even when i play people close.

No! We are not going to be thankful for Brawl's garbage online. I've waited half an hour for an online game only to get disconnected. This just wastes my time. I have to do something else, or I end up staring at the punching bag screen. Really, there is NO excuse for the poor quality of Brawl's online! So what if it's free, that means NOTHING! Medal of Honor has free online on the Wii. So does Mario Kart, so does Strikers, etc. Those games work just fine, even though they are free. Face it, there is no excuse for the waste of space that is Brawl online.
