I just got a 3ds a few days ago, and after some extensive playing I notice that when i am reading any site with a dark background ( this one ) My eyes seem to slide out of focus and the dark bacground seems to push the text into the foreground and gives a mild 3d effect, I cant seem to do it volintarily and it happens at random, not enoug to bother me. but it is giveing me a headache.

any one else? am i nuts?

I had the exact same issue when I first got my Nintendo 3DS, my suggestion is that you play with the 3D effect on for about 30 minutes to 60 minutes at a time only for the first week after that your eyes should be fine and shouldn't have that issue. I no longer have that issue and can play my Nintendo 3DS without any eye issues.

I would try turning down the 3D some at least until you get used to it. Also some might be able to play for long periods of time while others simply might not. No need to have the 3D on all the time as well if you don't want to. I've heard of the text being put into 3D when not playing the game but I think it goes away after a while though.

Ment to add,

I have not played it all day and i get the effect from time to time still, not bugging me, but concerns me.

reminds me of trying to drive home after playing arcade guitar hero for 6 hours lol...

This happened me during my first two weeks of use. It's really weird, but its like your brain is trying to add depth to a 2D image. Just give it some time and it'll ware off.

Should take about 3 days for your eyes to adjust to the 3ds.. From what i've heard.

I found that for the first week, real life would look like the 3D effect at times. Don't worry about it. it will go away

Play with the lights on and don't have the screen so close to your face. Don't play longer than 30 mins. I don't own a 3DS...yet... but I do get headaches when I play on my PSP and DS for a long time, eyes burn too.

I never had this problem and I always had the 3d effect on full blast playing games, even in the first few days.

This exactly describes my situation! I just got the 3DS on Sunday, along with OoT. And especially when I'm reading text, like these forums or online articles, some words will look closer while others will look further away. It's very weird. :?

A bit concerned that this effect is the result of the 3DS messing with my vision, or even confusing my brain in some manner. But I am glad to hear people saying that this effect is only temporary.

Took me about 2 weeks to get used to it. I was worried that I never would and regretting buying it at first. I was seeing everything in 3D. Now I have no problems at all.

lots of that goin around these days, pretty weird. The other night I thought I was messed up cuz i was seeing double playin OoT but it was only when Link held up a heart piece after beating Goma as soon as the game moved on after that everything went back to normal and i knew thankfully that it was just a glitch and not my eyes goin totally bonkers.

LOL!!! Yes! I just got my 3Ds last week, and anytime i go on here specifically with the dark backgrounds, it seems like it's trying to add more depth to it. It's so weird and I can't imagine, good. haha.

I noticed if I don't hold the 3ds at the right angle the image splits into two and makes me cross eyed.

Not for me me, but if that was happening I'd probably stick to 2D.

If we keep playing 3d games, one day, we might become, "newtypes."

I agree completely. ALso happened after playing crysis on high for the first time. All the leaves in real life started to look HD.
