Heres something you should know. YOU MESSED UP(unless you didn't have $200.00 to spend)! The DSi is coming out April 5th! Thats only 4 days from now. The Lite costs $129.00 to $139.00 depending where you live. The DSi costs $169.00 to $199.00 depending where you live. If you've got the time and the money, I suggest trying for a refund(and if they give you store credit, just put it towards the DSi) and if you decide to do that, make sure they have DSi's left for pre-orders or it will be hell getting one on release date, especially if you're limited to one retailer because of store credit.

Why get the DSI. Only a few games will come out "exclusive" to it as 90%+ users still will remain with their DSlite and Phat .... i assure you no one needs 2 cameras. The only cool thing it has going for it is the better wifi and online shop... they did a speaker test and it is negligible in hearing differences and the screen size isn't anything mind blowing as its still the same resolution. I still think the ds lite is a better deal.

2) 90%+ users still will remain with their DSlite and PhatColdfireTrilogy

1) Lmao. Wrong.

2) Lmfao. Wrong. Look at the poll.

Also, that poll was added a while ago. People (Like me) voted when not a lot of information was released, and many people changed their minds.

Edit: As atlanta_guy said, it will be sold out (I called around, and I won't be able to get it on launch). And they have no clue when they will get their second shipment in.

REGARDLESS that the dsi is coming out, id recomend some sort of screen protector for the bottom screen of your lite.

if you get a game like TWEWY/Zelda your gonna be doing alot of scratching and mad tapping. i got the nintendo protect released pack with 3 styluses and 2 rubber game cases and 2 screen protects, its decent and like 9 bucks at walmart but the screen protects are real easy to scratch and when playing in the sun you cant really see the lower screen. wireless should be easy to set up just find your wep code and set up the wireless via ds and whala, its done. oh and if you want online games always look for the little wifi in the left top corner of the game package, other than that, have a blast on the best portable!

Yeah man, the DSi vs DS Lite discussion thread, about %60 of DS users are upgrading from their Lite. And already the DSi has sold over 2 million in Japan and has so many pre-orders on Amazon.com alone that its classified as the best selling gaming device in history. Plus when I went to pre-order my DSi, EB Games only had 4 more DSi's left for their upcoming shipment. Most stores are already sold out even though they don't even have them in stock yet!

I've played around 15-20 DS games with wi-fi and they all were set up the same and everything. So I don't think you'll have a problem with that.

Don't worry about the DSi hype. It's just that - hype.

Congratulations on your DS Lite. The first thing I'd suggest is picking up a protective case. If you have big hands like myself, holding the DS while playing will result in extreme discomfort. This will not only protect it from an accidental drop, but make it much easier to hold.

Make sure you set up your DS properly... things like your internal clock, the screen adjustment, etc. Some games use real time to effect different elements, so be sure to give it an accurate reading.

Looks like you picked up some solid games, so that's a good start, seeing how that's what the DS is all about. If you're finding yourself wanting some more games, be sure to look here for a great list of suggestions.

And I personally would never, ever switch to a DSi... for my own reasons. ;)

He did not mess up, he chose to get a DS Lite. The DSi isn't worth it anyways.

If a game has a wifi logo on it (blue circle with "wifi" on it), then that game will allow you to connect. When you connect, you'll be able to generate your own friend-code. Where you can find this code depends on the game, but they'll always show you where.

There's no version of the DS that isn't worth it. There's just one that's right for you and one that isn't.

DSi discussion thread in disguise.

There are a few things that DSi bashers and defendersneed to know:

1) According to a GS notice somewhere on the site, the DSi is outselling the PSP by far in Japan, according to the community, there are some good numbers of DSi buyers there.

2) Whether the DSi new features (not only the camera, but also DSi only games and virtual console) are worth or not, it depends on the everyone opinion and what they think about those features, but its not fair that people go bashing the DSi around just because they want to or are too blind with incorrect or incomplete info.

3) He bought a DS lite, but that doesnt means that he screwed up. He had his reasons to pick the lite. He didnt know about the DSi before, he wasnt interested on the DSi or he can be a DSi basher like some people here.

4) If this topic keeps going this way, expect it to be closed soon.

If you guys honestly think the Nintendo DSi is not worth it (because you probrobly can't afford it LOL... just kidding lol) or it's not gonna sell (because your a neanderthan who enjoys crying about its GBA-less slot and enjoys living in the past then living in the present.) then you are one sad individual... @TC, you might want to look into full body protection from Zagg.com. The Black DS Lite can get pretty jacked up (mine was a mess). Zagg's invisible shield is unscratchable(you get a new one free it somehow manages to get scratched) and will keep it looking a beautiful as it does now. Just $25.

like i said before, the prices are higher here because of taxes, my ds lite cost me $150, and the DSi cost $250. for a camera, bigger screen and a few new exclusive titles, in my opinion the DS lite is the right thing for me, besides i love that black shiny little thing :D

i didnt want to turn this in a DSi vs DS lite topic, i just said thta i got a new DS lite, i was very happy with it(cant stop playing castlevania dawn of sorrow) and wanted to share my happiness with you ppl and know a few hints and tips about my new black thingy.

im a big fan of nintendo since the nes, also i love zelda, pokemon and the rpgs in the DS library, any other stuff that i should know or take in mind to get later, will be welcome and thanks again

1. You made a great decision (financially) by getting a DS Lite

2. Castlevania Dawn of Sorrow is awesome! Err no, wait, what I meant to say was that game is awesome to the eXtreme! Hold on a sec, that wasn't it either.. wait what was I talking about? lol Oh yeah, some people love Portrait of Ruin more, but I would skip that game and go for Ecclesia (?) if and only if you want something more challenging and not the norm of DoS/ PoR.

3. Don't ask for recomendations because the same games will always pop up. Instead do research in whatever type of game you want and watch gameplay vids, then read reviews and peoples opinions.

4. The DS isn't a Wii controller, so you don't need the lanyard (wrist attachment) connected to play ;)

5. Have fun!

If you feel like you made the right choice getting a DS Lite, then you did. People need to shut up. You already bought it and obviously don't regret it.

With that out of the way, the DS is actually rather easy to take care of if you do it right. I wouldn't suggest getting screen protectors unless you're very violent when playing games. The screen doesn't scratch easily - the screen protectors do, and they get air bubbles trapped under them that are very hard to get rid of, hence making it a bit difficult for you to see what you're doing while playing. If you think you'll be jabbing at the screen a lot, however, then get a few protectors for the bottom screen, and just replace them when they get messed up.

Buying a case for your DS and DS games is a good choice. It keeps your system protected when you're not playing and all of your accessories in one place. Games cartridges are very important as well, because the DS game cards are pretty fragile.

I've also heard that the hinges break rather easily, so avoid snapping your system open and closed.

All and all, since you already seem to have excellent taste in games, that's pretty much all I can offer you. Don't listen to what people are saying about the DSi - the games are going to be the same, so paying $100 more is just kind of ridiculous.

Okay, don't get all crazy on me. All I was saying is he probably should have just waited for the DSi considering some games will be exclusive. By the way, this IS a gaming site. "Games" are for playing, and when people start playing seriously, its not a game anymore. Get what i'm saying? And i'm not trying to offend you or anything so just stay cool. By the way, you're right, he can choose. In this case the Lite was way better of a choice for him considering where he lives the DSi is $100.00 more. If I knew that... well yeah.

The problem with communication over the internet is that you can't hear the tone a person is speaking in. The first sentence made it look to me like You were the"crazy" one. What I meant was: Why do you have a problem with the DS Lite? Because both systems are still being sold, it must not matter which he chooses.

thanks everyone oh and i bought a ds lite because the DSi here cost almost the double of a DS lite, and i really dont need the camera, i just wanted a great handheld so the wifi thing depends on the game? like which games? any more specific hints to connect the ds to internet?TIGERLIONX
Dude the DSI is not only about a camera It wasn't intended to be a kodak or Sony digital Camera to take photos. First the camera is intended for gameplay like the eyetoy and to do crazy stuff with the editor. It have:

1. bigger and brighter screens

2. better and lauder speakers

3. better D pad

4. new menu that can be updated

5. web browser, downlodable content

6. ability to raise or lower the screen brightness wile playing and the ability to go directly to the menu

7. new matte finish with an additional light to indicate a Wi-Fi connection

8. more powerful CPU, four time the RAM of the Lite

9. weight less and even come with $10.00 of points to spent in downloads.

thanks for the info :) i already knew that, i just didnt want to type all the things in my opinion i didnt needed because i was posting from my ps3, and typing without a keyboard in that thing is a pain in the arse.

the DSi have great adds but for me isnt worth the price and i like more my black shiny thing than a matte black thingy

I have the same Black DSlite (had it for a few years now) and I'm still perfectly fine with it. Yes the DSi has cool new features but it all depends on what a person likes more. As far as accessing online play, you have to do that through the game you're playing (if ithas online capabilities)and if you're around an accessible connection it should be fine. And asfor friends codes i haven't seen anything related to that particular feature, at leastfor the DSlite (for the DSi, I'm not sure).

I know you guys are all excited about the new DS. Who wouldn't be? It's a great upgrade indeed. But like what the original poster replied later, I don't need another camera. It's like my cellphone that doubles as a camera--I liked it but sometimes I wonder if I really need it. I guess what I'm really trying to say is that I would rather much appreciate content than substance. The DS Phat and the DS lite have all been great substances already. I mean, after all those upgrades--I was kinda hoping I'd focus more on appreciating the games offered rather than to worry about buying another handheld. Looking at the things I had bought over the years, cellphones would be at the top of the most upgraded. What's next? DS that sends text messages? DS doubling as GPS? DS as a pc? There are just a lot of things a little piece of engineering can do. As for me, it had boiled downalready to a point where I think a simple yet all around gadget would do just fine. The point: sure there are games exclusive to it but it wouldn't hurt to consider it as a plus rather than a necessity for those who don't mind being "classic". I would rather prefer Nintendo continue to support the old DS owners and add a niche to those who have DSi. At least, they'd have two markets to focus on. I wouldn't want my DS to become like the PC wherein I have to upgrade my graphics card often just to enjoy a particular game. I mean, that's where the PC ultimately failed. The hardware are fast becoming a necessity that it becomes almost impossible to play a particular game because the lack thereof. Bottom line: old DS owners are an important consumer shares. If they ditch us, it'll fast become a landslide. But I highly doubt Nintendo would do such a drastic move. Sure polls are showing great numbers of upgraders--heck, it's easy to click and be one of those numbers. I really doubt if everyone is happy about the upgrade. Sure, the polls say it but when it come down to reality, money is hard to come by. We'd be eager to accept these changes made by our beloved DS--then it hits us: upgrade again, kaching off the credit card, "You already have a ds, why would you want another one" rant from skeptical parents, our thinning wallets and hair and so on and so forth.

Yesh I've had a same old, same old normal DS for uh 3 years I think and the only I came across were.... 1. My L and R buttons got jammed (TWEWY Fast Forward= ftw but aftermath = ftl) 2. Lost my stylus.....so I attached one by string to my DS 3. My Screen looks funny with all the scratches So those might be problems you might encounter with the DS Lite......I'm jealous :P I want one

I meant there will be Nintendo DSi hybrid/exclusive games like the GameBoy Color "ERA"(meaning time period) because GameBoy Color also had GameBoy hybrid/exclusive games. Hopefully you know what I mean this time around!

I see, for a moment there I believed that you were referring too the rumour of downloadable GBC games in the DSiWare store.

listen i think of the lite vs I like this: its like SP VS MICRO SP won seriously the DSI (I hvae already got a preview of it cant tell you why) has horrile cameraangels though its live does have what nintedno will do to there next home console its nothing ground breaking. But Nintendo polls do show it will be sold out in a week without a doubth but the kiddies will probably apeal to the lights still the DSI was made for all hardcore nintendo fans as well so for people who are complaining (NINTEDNO HAS CRAPPY 3RD PARTY SUPPORT) the DSi exclusives will ALL be hardcore and nintendo (I got this from a diffrent website and sorry if im wrong) will make a "New super Marios Bros 2" using Super mario bros 3 gameplay, as well as add a couple of games that will use the camera, just that if your looking into the DSI for itsHARDWARE you are sadly going to the wrong handheld, DSI will be hardcore but i wont get it waste of my time and money if i do and if i do as i said in another topic i would only get it via price cut and for Legend of Zelda:Spirit tracks if its going to be an exclsuive.

thats alright and i congratulate on the buy.The amount of good ds games is already massive, and when theres a good chunk of DSI titles using -its higher end hardware- then and only then it might be more of a pressing matter. I didnt buy me a ds lite because it was the same engine and no ds lite game wouldnt run on my phat...in this case and withint reasonable pricing, things are different and rather have choices than not having them. While im getting the dsi because is a huge jump from phat, brighter screens, larger screens, slimmer, ligter, twice the power and memory. This is different than SPvs micro vs classic GBA, since they had exactly the same software capabilites. And same went witht phat vs lite.

Grats on getting your Lite. I was going to suggest a protective case and a screen sticker thing but people have already suggested it... If you easily lose small items then I suggest you get a bunch of styluses. In my case , I've already lost one .:(

Lol had to edit my post. Someone before me mentioned the loss of the stylus just before I hit the Submit button. Darn you fast typers.

Try not to drop it. :P Good luck with black. When I bought mine, I really wish I went to another color. It was impossible to keep that thing clean.

[QUOTE="riariases"][QUOTE="ColdfireTrilogy"]Why get the DSI. I still think the ds lite is a better deal.Nin10doFan44

Once again!?... My buddy riariases is right (AGAIN!? lol) because Nintendo DSi is gonna be the new hotness! Who enjoys living under a rock!?

Nin10doFan44: You're an idiot. and coming from someone who has pre-ordered a DSi, you are way too excited about it. Go outside.

That depends on where you live. US isn't the entire world.

Where I live a DSi is only $20 cheaper than a Pro 360 or a Wii. This can be a little step for an upgrade even if it is a huge upgrade.

Yeah, people are really freakin' out about this thing. I've pre-ordered mine as well and can't see anything more coming out of it than some timekillers from the DSi Shop, an entertaining music player, and maybe some VC in the future(not getting my hopes up though). There's peole talking about it like it's gonna have tons of PSP quality(in terms of graphics) games within the first two months even though Iwata himself denied anything like that was going to happen at all. Why does it have to be any more than what Nintendo says it is- a new iteration of the DS that solves the problems with the first two iterations-? If Nintendo didn't want to support the DS Lite anymore, then they wouldn't still be selling it.
